My big stupid hype trains thread.

PQD just won his fight by stoppage late in the third. Was only able to see the second half of the third, he still seems a bit unpolished sometimes but was in control of the fight. Hope he gets a step up soon I have high hopes for this guy.

Holy fuck is this dude ever back. Disappeared for three and a half years and to be honest I kind of forgot he existed. Came back against a reasonable opponent and just absolutely ran through him in 16 seconds. Knocking him down pretty much immediately and then carefully picking his shots to finish his opponent and separate him from consciousness. I was massively impressed by the way he was calmly and methodically picking those shots. Looks like a terror.

Watch out welterweights, your worst nightmare has come true, it turns out PQD has cardio.

The dude he was fighting was seriously tough as shit and managed to survive a couple of the initial wild offensive flurries of death that have been getting everyone else out of there. The concern with muscular guys who just trash everyone early is that they gas, instead PQD dialled it back a bit, fought in a manner than reminded me of Michael Morales and then still had the cardio to turn it on and finish a ridiculously tough dude in the last minute of the fight.

Pretty much fully bounced back from the Gabriel Santos loss now. For me Delano is one of the best defensive fighters in the world, we've seen his TDD against wrestlers before and now he's showing how he calmly drifts his head out of the way of power punchers shots and slowly starts timing them before knocking them out. Really deserves a UFC opportunity given that he's 13-1 in his last 14 fights.

A couple of impressive signing from One championship:
Your Light weight guy Samat Mamedov (Kazakhstan) 6-0, and Welter Weight Alibeg Rasulov (Turkey) 12-0.

Unless it is a different Samat Mamedov as you had him at 9-0.

No it's my Samat Mamadov. Good signing for ONE, let's hope they actually give him some fights.

Updated rankings, since last time I did them I've put Baki back in seeing as it seems he's not a permanent PFL fighter, Parnagoat is back now he's finished his KSW contract and Shaykhaev is back now he's signed for LFA having finished his ACA matching period

In terms of fighters leaving PFL picked up #53 Shamil Musaev and #82 Michael Dufort for their 2024 season and ONE signed #51 Samet Mamedov.

#44 Badmatysen Dorzhiev and #77 Kerim Daudov both dropped off after dissapointing performances. A few more dropped off the bottom just due to me fiddling with the order and bumping some off the reserve list.

Virgil's always been a really good wrestler and top control guy, but this fight against Vlad Gutu was an interesting test to see how he'd do against another good wrestler.

Virgil showed much improved striking to land more, I was very impressed by his patience and pacing as he picked Gutu apart and waited for the perfect moments to strike as he wore him down on the feet and slowly started to take over in the wrestling as the fight progressed, before getting his man out of there with an eventual RNC.

I have to say he seems like the perfect age and experience to get into the UFC and I reckon he'll do very well.
