Analysis My 2nd boxing fight

Mm ok thanks. I have been sparring a guy who makes small steps after he punches and it’s pretty effective at throwing me off. The good thing is that I pick it up and can do the same or at least react to his steps now. It’s interesting.

I saw your videos on how when you punch your head moves very slightly. Is that what you mean? Or are you also talking about constantly moving your head giving different looks?

I have a sparring partner who does this. Constantly level changing, slipping and moving his head/body just to give different looks. What do you think about this?
When I look at myself, I look very static in comparison. My head does only move in anticipation or defense of a punch

Yes, he is more proactive. He moves his head either before or after punching. Whereas you kinda wanna see what he does, then move your head accordingly. That means you're always reacting.

Here is one drill I use for proactive head-movement. My Son had a broken wrist so he was only using one hand:

Idealistically you change hands, punch, move, punch, move.

Also, be proactive in your bag work. Move your head before you punch, or move it after you punch. But teach your body that to get a punch requires a position change either before or after.

Solid work. Good balance. Good variety of punches.

Most notably your ability to keep punching while backing up. A lot of people cannot do that no matter how much they train.
