News *MUST READ* Two-Step Tango (Important notes and answers about 2FA)

You're evading the point I submitted to your attention. Please answer.

About me if you insinuate that I'm nit accepting 2FA because it's too tech difficult you're wrong. 2FA is useful for sensible information. Which this leisure MMA forum is not. I'm dumbfoun why anyone would want to set up 2FA for such a platform and so am not agreeing to it.
I dont think its necessary either, but it’s so insignificant in terms of time or headache, Id question why somebody would remove themselves unless they already had one foot out the door. There are definitely things to take a stand against in life….2FA isn’t that hill. Just whining about a minor inconvenience.

There is no more anonymous space on the internet almost. Today it's 2FA then in 10 years it's facial recognition. Giving up this control for no advantage means more control will have to be given for no advantage either in the future.

The bathroom is over there. Go dry your eyes and clean yourself up. Have some self respect son.

Just got home from work, fired up the computer and was thrilled to receive my new login code which I entered.

I think I'm developing a bit of an addiction!! Y'all don't know what you're missing!!

It's annoying as hell to do that every 30 days on several devices.

But that's not even the point. None of this matters on an individual level. But a big chunk of the user base is gonna disappear plus way less new users are gonna join. So there will be less engagement on Sherdog. And then... death.

You can literally stick your 2FA onto a burner email like everyone else did. I'm actually surprised there's such a mass pushback against this simplistic security procedure.

This all sounds VERY fishy. Like some kind of nefarious tracking scheme. Who is behind this diabolical plot? I think it is best to not let them know I am on to them, but then I may have said too much already...

It's already that way. But why should I do it for a non serious leisure karate forum ? Soon we'll have to show QR codes to enter shops and restaurants. Oh wait we already did.

I understand that you have no answer to my questions, or that those answers would make you reassess your view. Deflecting can be a coping mechanism in that case indeed.

You’re having a traumatic experience. I wish you the best of luck. Fight the power!!

Get a load of Mister several devices over here.

Doesn't bother me... I've been doing it for 2 years already on every account that allows it including Sherdog. Summer of '22 I got a virus by Russian spyware that used my social accounts to spam gambling and porn. Had to get unbanned from several platforms and put this double security on right away. Hasn't happened since. Doing it every 30 days for multiple accounts is annoying. You hate it until you're screwed bad and wish you had it. Never again for me.

At first I was meh on the idea, indifferent either way... then realized I use two desktops, two laptops and a Surface daily, and Sherdog's usually open in Mozilla everywhere. So a slight inconvenience becomes a slightly bigger inconvenience. I get that Sherdog has to toe the line, that's not what is lost on me. The way it was dropped on everyone isn't the way I would have gone about it, but w/e.

The only device I don't use Sherdog on is my phone (even though I use Mozilla as a browser on that too)... don't iike the mobile version at all. If a mobile version of Sherdog were my only access, I would have been long gone.

I know, I know... to each their own. Sherdog makes it easy for the casuals and non-tech savvy people to keep up on MMA with reliable information.

I don't think Sherdog deliberately means to use 2FA as means of data mining, but we all know it's happening anyways. It was a CYA response to a CYA response, and so on.

There were a lot of legitimate points made in this thread about Sherdog as a website (not as the forum community), let's hope some good comes out of the posters taking the time to tell you what they feel is lacking. And yes, while I feel most are of the "tantrums" variety, a lot of the complaints do have merit.

I come here to post and interact with other MMA fans more than anything else, and to pass time because I am bored. Honestly, there are better sources and platforms for Bros' mma fixes/news/chats nowadays than Sherdog. Here just feels familiar. There are a LOT of cool posters here, and some extremely knowledgeable folks. I am/was having/had a lot of fun, but if the forums go to shit, there's not really any point to sticking around.

If the internet and technology has ever made one thing perfectly clear, is that people love it when a government/store/business/app/website says... "...or else!".

Good point. I'd rather spam porn on my Sherdog than my socials tho.

Didn't have time to like all the positive posts here, just want to thank all who have figured it out and assisted others with it too.

When I first started with it I too found it kind of frustrating. Especially considering you may be posting from different devices, using different browsers, and may be approaching it from wildly different experiences and tech savvy.

After re-reading the original post and taking some time learning how to do this, I can understand why this was needed.

Please know that mods and staff here sincerely love this site as much as much you, and want to keep everything going as easily as possible for everyone.

If you have sincere questions please keep asking and someone will try and assist. Usually, another poster. Definitely not me, as I'm amongst the least tech savvy person here.
