Thanks mate.i've looked at the sinbi apartments website. Can't find a mention of the gym anywhere. Been looking at your google map too, really helpful. It should be on the first page IMO. Going to the beach now, hopefully it doesn't rain

Also looking for a place to stay while I'll be training at Sinbi. Had a look at Naiya Buree, looks pretty good and it's pretty close to the gym. I have to admit I don't like staying at cheap and nasty places and this one looks top notch (at least according to pics on their site! haha).

Sinbi Apartments looks kinda expensive, might be worth it if you get some of your friends to stay with you. I'm looking at getting onsite accomodation since it's cheaper even if I have to share a room. If everything is booked, I'm going elsewhere.

On second thoughts, the weather is really shit at the moment. When it pours, some of the roads floods. At least in the area i'm staying.

Patong beach is pretty dirty atm. Don't know if they ever clean it. Was raining when i went, stayed 10 mins and left. Waste of time.
Any one new should avoid junceylon resturants or "western pricing restuarnats" with a bit of exploring you can find decent meals for 40b, they are easy to find. Anymore than 60b i feel ripped off.

Well it's low season so things are meant to be cheaper. I don't think weather would be so much of ano issue if you are strictly training. It's more of a problem on sat evening/sunday when you want to do other things. I suspect the gyms would tend to be quieter low season too. It's kind of a tradeoff. Didn't mean to discourage you lol
I haven't been to the sinbi area so not sure what it's like down there.
I suppose it's what you hope to get out of your time here. Everyone is different so it might/might not be an issue with you. My first time here so maybe someone else can tell you what it's like in july. If it was me, just do it, even with the bad weather you will most likey enjoy it. Heard nothing but good stuff about sinbi. It's the sherdogger's choice. Gotobread has been there many times and the fact he chose to go at this time...

Glad y'all are getting some mileage out of the map. I'll try and update it a bit while I'm out here, if I can. This area continues to be built up so much every year that the shit on the map could be gone within months. Thankfully some of my preferred haunts (restaurants and massage joints mostly) are still here... and still making fun of me for being so white.

I've stayed in both a one bedroom and two bedroom suite at Naiya Buree. Both were very nice, but I felt maybe a bit overpriced (and I don't mind spending money). Phuket Villas are directly next door and offer up cheaper accommodation. Right where that road meets the bigger road (the breakfast buffet is right there on the corner), they opened up some new rooms... Baan Sabai, I think they're called. They're like 900 baht a night. No idea what they look like inside. All very close to the gym -- totally walkable. Same goes for Naiharn Green Village, though my experiences there weren't as great as some other people, so I personally can't recommend it. There's also Happy Elephant or something similar right there, but I've never seen the rooms there.

If there's anything I can do for anyone that may be coming here in the near future while I'm still here, just let me know.

Well, Naiya Buree is actually cheaper than onsite accommodation, assuming you want a private room. Presumably the Naiya Buree rooms are also going to be 'nicer'.

1 week of training twice per day for 6 days: 3000 baht
1 week at Naiya Buree: 750 x 7 = 5250 baht
Total = 8250b

Kingsize private room at Sinbi, including training for 1 week: 9000 baht

Difference: 750b

Not a big difference, but still a little cheaper.

Well, you're looking at the wrong room. Their cheapest room is the studio, which is 1,000 a night. You're looking at the suite. I suppose I stand corrected in regards to Naiya Buree, though... either they've dropped prices or the website is inaccurate. Do yourself a favor and contact them ahead of time to make sure that's accurate. It seems... cheaper than I remember. But if that's accurate, that's going to be tough to beat outside of a long-term rental situation, I think. That's even cheaper than Green Valley and far nicer.

This place is a little further away and is 990 a night right now:

Pay no attention to the rates on the site -- they have a chalkboard out front that says 990 a night. I know because I eat breakfast across the street from it pretty much every other day. Also, like most places, it's probably a little cheaper if you book by the week, etc.

I was able to work with some new trainers on this trip. I've worked with Pot, Sing, Bao V, Kimchi and Wang in the past and I love all of those dudes. This time I've also been able to work with Yip, someone who told me his name was Roui (that's the best I can do on his name), and another trainer I don't know the name of... who isn't listed on the site. Yip and Roui have been fantastic and I'd put Roui just behind Wang in terms of dudes that I love to work with, but the unknown dude stinks on ice. I'll try to grab his name next time I'm at the gym, but his pad holding is about as boring as it gets. Jab, jab cross, roundhouse, repeat.

Edit: On the corner, just by Sinbi and where you would turn to head off to Dragon Muay Thai, there's a building with a sign offering up rooms for rent for 600 baht a night. I don't know anything about them other than that. It's in the same little row of shops as the Sport Massage place. Both of which are on my map.

Great that you got a one year visa. Did you get the gym to write a letter for you that you will be training there?

thanks for the info. I have gone on multiple entry visas in the past. they are ok but a yearly visa would be better of course.

Fyi it hasn't rained all week since sunday(that i can remember). Very plesent whether atm lots of sunshine.

Just got to KP after a 10 hour long ride by bus/ferry. I'm fucking tired. My hotel is 1 year old and looks really nice, but the room is tiny. Checked out Choenrit around 5 and met the owner, Rob. The gym was actually empty, but I'm going to try a session tomorrow morning. I'll also try out Diamond and Chinnarch too in the following days. You can get around Thongsala easily without a motorbike, but everyone seems to be using one.

Did my 1st session at Choenrit, I was the only guy there at 8am so it was pretty much a private. Turns out my technique is really bad and I was overextending. I will try out Chinnarch and Diamond in the next two days. So far so good. But the humidity and blazing sun don't help, it's hard to do anything outside right now when you feel like dying. Right now I'm indoors. It also doesn't help that my hotel isn't a party hotel so I will definitely be relocating after this week. Rob told me Lime and Soda is popular with young people.
