Gym/Training Muay Thai Gym Q&A

I had a good time at Island Muay Thai in Koh Tao last week. I made it in for 4 sessions between my scuba courses. Had a blast.

Heading to Bangkok on Tuesday and will only be there for 2 days. Plan on staying near Lumpini so I can check out the fights there Tuesday night. Any recommendations on a gym welcoming to farangs in the area or easy to get to?

There is Petchindee on top of the Twins store. There is MuayThaiplaza/windysports behind the stadium and another one near this gym down the road.

Which hotel are staying at?

Thanks! I'm planning on staying at Etzzz hostel but I haven't booked anything so I'm open to suggestions. It was recommended to me from another travel and since I'm only there for 2 days, I figured it'd be nice to try to meet some people to go to the fights with that night.

thanks everyone, now i have a massive list of camps i want to go to :(
but sinbi has got to be near the top, and maybe a stop over at saengmorakot would be nice.
any australians on here thinking of going soon?

and also, if anyone knows of any gyms/camps near phitsanulok, it would be greatly appreciated.

Narupol Fairtex was a trainer there for a while, he still might be...
Heard its good for MMA, but i doubt it can be any better than U.S gyms.

Evolve is very expensive, but from what I understand-excellent training and facilities. I train with Kru Noi at The Stable-still more expensive than US gyms too. Although I'm a newbie, I find him very good. Good thing is he just received his visa so he will be at The Stable for a while.

Thailand is much cheaper and probably better camps.

Im back in Thailand for a while this time, found a nice apartment in BKK just 50 meters from a MTP 2004 Puamphanmuang Gym. Pretty good gym, so far ive been enjoying it.
I fight March 29th in Chonburi and hopefully in Lumpini in early to mid April, I will post some vids soon.

You are very close to Lumpini, have a gym on top of Twins shop and also down the street from the hostel MTP 2004 Gym

hi, i live in bangkok on a permanent basis
i am a total noob, no martial arts experience, but i have discipline
i want to do MT for self-defense/exercise. i dont want to fight for a gym, but i want to learn properly (not some bullshit kickboxing-aerobics)
i would like to train 2-3x a week, preferably in the evenings (the later the better for me)
i speak thai
money is no object (i could pay for private sessions or whatever)

what should i do?

Burklerk is a damn good coach. Especially if you're into more than just smashing the pads, high IQ thai boxing.

Depends on which district you live in.

Does anybody know of any camps in Nakhon Si Thammarat? I will be in the city, my mother and father in law have been asking around, but the only camp they know of is where a promoter got shot last year. I told them some names that I had heard before, I believe it was Kittichai, but they aren't really aware when it comes to the Muay Thai scene haha, any help would be awesome.

Whats the best time to go train in Thailand ?
For example, lets say in sinbi when do i go if i want the less foreigner training and the most trainers ?

There're always enough trainers at Sinbi, for sure.

To answer your original question, the rainy season -- or May through September, really. Obviously the flip-side there is all the rain.

hey guys, anyone got some good recommendations for gyms that have private one on one classes? I tend to find one on one classes a lot better and more value for money then group classes.. really want to work on my clinch game in thailand and i think doing a lot of private clinch classes would help, anyone got some tips?
