Gym/Training Muay Thai Gym Q&A

Norasing lost the Lumpini belt a few months back now and is rumored to be switching to international boxing soon, think Yodbuangarm may have retired again as been a fair bit quiet for a while and Sarawut also inactive since he was stopped by Kaew Fairtex a little while back. Lukbanyai was a very strong camp a few years back, but would say it has slipped a bit recently

There you go people, I stand corrected by the MAN! :) Thanks. Are there any strong prospects at the camp at the moment?

There is no shortage of great places to train in BKK. I suggest Kaewsamrit since you have their logo as your avatar. Sinbi and WMC are in great locations. Both are close to nice beaches so should have a great time when not training.

So my dates to go to Thailand have changed again and I will be there for Songkran 2010. I'm very excited to be able to shoot people in the streets again with a water pistol but I'm still torn between camps. Just looking for some feed back from those that have been Thailand like me. I'm looking at Saengmorakot, Keatkhamtorn, and Chuwattana if it finished being rebuilt by the time arrive. All three offer very good training so that is not the issue. I love the grapple so Keatkhamtorn is very high on the list. Saengmorakot because not many foreigners train there and they have been around for 20+ years and the same goes for Chuwattana.

Where would you and why? Even if the camp you would go to is not listed, feel free to and give an explanation for your choice.

Here is a Review pf True Bee gym I have borrowed from another forum.

I trained at True Bee gym for a month in Dec 09, which was a few weeks ago so this is an updated version of the latest happenings at True Bee gym.

After reading up on all the reviews here, I gathered that True Bee gym was gonna be an excellent choice. Everyone raved about the trainers, the training etc. Unfortunately, the gym fell short of my expectations.

Training wise, ever since Mr. Ae (Mr Bee's brother) left True Bee for Chai Yai gym in Chiang Mai, my fellow trainees have confided that the standard has dropped tremendously. Of course I didn't know back then, it was only until I went to Chai Yai to train that I realized how right my friends were. There are currently 3 trainers at True Bee gym, Mr Bee, Mr Tree and Mr Charlie. Mr Bee is very good at correcting your faults and is very technical, but it is unfortunate that his trainer Charlie is not as hardworking as he should be. He always look sleepy, does things without any sense of interest, and when Mr Bee left the gym for Bangkok for a week, the trainers acted like they couldn't care less about us. I think fame has gotten into their heads, they forget that we are paying alot of money and without the customers they can't work. Mr Tree is a good trainer, so no complains about him.

Also what I found to be irritating was how lazy the atmosphere was at True Bee. There is this guy, Aek, who is suppose to be the guy who takes care of the gym (cleanliness etc) but he is so lazy he wouldn't clean the chicken shit on the floor and in the ring (yes they rear chickens at the gym, which was really unpleasant and dirty). He just couldn't be bothered. The floor was so dirty and the weights were covered in sand and mud and dirt I didn't even wanna touch them. Contrast to my experience at Chai Yai, the guy there cleaned the floor everyday and even wash the handwraps (which they don't do at True Bee).

The lazy atmosphere also translated to an unorganized camp. The only time you really got attention from the trainers were during the padworks in the ring. Before and after that, you were left to your own device. At Chai Yai, they had trainers watching you, instructing you what to do next and correcting you every second of the training so that you are not wasting time. Training in the afternoon was suppose to begin at 3pm, but it always starts at 3.15 or later because the trainers are playing card games. Like, come on, seriously??

It was also disappointing to learn that none of the trainers at True Bee went down to Tha Pae stadium to watch my fellow trainees fight on 3 different occasion. Neither did they prepare my friends on what to expect etc even though it was their first fight. The lack of interest made me wonder if they even care about their trainees. Instead one of the trainees (shoutout to Dave for being so supportive) was there at the ringside being the corner man.

Overall, while I felt like my experience at True Bee has improved my skills, fame has gotten into their head and now they are no longer a gym worth going to. Mr Bee is a nice and friendly guy, but then again, I am not here to make friends and have chit-chat sessions. I feel like it is now a money making orientated gym.

Thanks for the response

You're the second person that's said that, looks like i'll cross it off of the list...

Now it's down to 13 Coins or Kiatphontip

Yo KOKID,
Since you are fans of Singdam and Lerdsila like me, I uploaded there fight from 12-12-2009 just in case you had not seen it yet.

WowI heard the accommodations are nice too. I just got back from the ghetto at kaewsamrit but good training and good people.

Ya man, I downloaded that the other night... my 2 favorite fighters, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time haha

Lerdsila's evasiveness is insane!! the part where he teeped AND moved out of the way of that high kick was crazy, but I think Singdam's knee's hurt him a bit... good fight though

Singdam was just a little too big for Lertsila. First two rounds Lertsila was outstanding, but you could see him get more and more tired as the rounds went by, he's not exactly reknowned for his stamina and doesn't like to be pressured too much.
