Gym/Training Muay Thai Gym Q&A

1on1 training costs 500bath/h, i can absolutley recommend Sinbi. Great trainers, nice people, good location etc.

Hey all, a friend and I are planning a trip to Phuket for a month from late may-late June. We are seriously torn between PTT, Sinbi, Tiger, and Dragon. Leaning towards Sinbi or Dragon. Only thing is that i was unable to find any info on the sinbi website in regards to one on one sessions with an instructor, if anyone has any info on that it would be greatly appreciated, same goes for any info on Dragon as there seems to be less info on that gym compared to the other three. Feel free to throw in any other advice/comments. Thanks

Sinbi is probably your best bet of those choices you listed.

Hi

Im 22. Currently training here in the US as a boxer and grappler and looking to get into MMA soon.

I've been thinking of saving up and going to Thailand for a year to train Muy Thai. Would anybody be able to give an estimate of the cost? Including training, housing, and food.

don't know for a year but i think 10.000 bahjt a month is normal at a good gym.. so say 75.000 for a year or so?

I trained in Thailand 3 years ago...1 week at Lamai Gym in Koh Samui and 1 week at Chorenrit in Koh ****nan. I had a great time at both camps.

I want to train another 2 or 3 weeks in april and maybe do a fight there. I want to train at a gym where there s a 3-1 students gym ratio...and a 50/50 farang/thai fighter group to train with.

Besides the fact that i want to train at a gym i can train hard..i also like to have it close to the beach and enough possibilities to drive around with my scooter to see some countryside/nature etc.

As i already trained in Koh Samui and Koh ****nan for a short time..i am thinking about to see another gym and especially another part of Thailand this time. I have never been to the Andaman sea side by example...

Looking for gyms i came by Rawai gym... looks really good..but really touristic and overcrowded also.

I want the holiday feeling from driving around and the luxury bungalow with sea sunset..but in the first place comes the good and strong training.

Anybody can recommend any good...maybe unknown Island gym at Lanta or Khao Lak?
Ogtherwise i will still enjoy training at one of the gyms i was before but i am interesting in your experiences.

Thanks in advance..

Wouldn't it be 10.000 baht x 12 = 120.000 ? Or does regular multiplication work differently in Baht? lol

I get what your saying. It would be perfect to just train and live near the beach with no real worries :)

Does anyone know if any gyms in Thailand also do any grappling?

Ehmm.. regular multiplication works differently in Thailand. The longer your stay the more reduction you get.

Emerald in ao nang.

Big thanks to Ryu for answering my questions.

Below are sparring vids from Sitsongpeenong and Fighting Spirit - both are great gyms.

You get a lot of pad time in Thailand.

If you want grappling, you have to pick Phuket gyms like Tiger, Phuket top team, Maximum (in Patong), or American Kickboxing Academy.

Sorry, this thread is so many pages and yes i'm being lazy by posting this, but at least i'm not starting a whole new thread:

So, what are the good gyms these days? Last time i went to Thailand was 2 years ago. Been to sitmonchai, sitsongpeenong, chuwattana, sinbi, jitti.

Just looking for a new traditional place i can grind everyday at, nothing specific i wanna work on, just want to live that life again.

Anyone go recently?

I just came back from Sitjaopho. It's a great gym. You will get to spar everyday with Phet Tho and Phet Eak. I learned so much from them.

Read the first 8 pages of this thread... Can anyone provide some current reviews regarding Sinbi, Phuket Top Team, or any gyms from Chiang Mai?

Thx man. You still updating your channel? Do you have a separate one to the fairfaxjiujitsumuaythai one?

Does anyone know where the new Petchyindee location is? Also any recommendations on muay thai shops in Bangkok other than actionzone?

Should be on Soi Charan Sanitwong 34, Bangkoknoi (other side of the Chao Phraya, old part of Bangkok). Basically back the location of the original Petchyindee camp. Phone number is 090-3838020 or you can contact Nong Boat on FB.

Also, why not Actionzone? They have the best prices, good stock (usually), and can handle special/custom orders. If you want Top King, you can stop by the Top King Lumphini shop off Rama IV.

So I'm currently planning my 2 week trip with my wife. She's will be on vacation and I just want to train, lol... So I got a few questions:

1. I read in one of the gym reviews "don't pay up front in Thailand". Can somebody elaborate? You mean don't pay for a week/month training? Just pay the 1 day training? Also does this apply on accommodations as well?

2. I don't plan to rent a scooter. What are the other alternatives? Can I rent a bicycle? Or are places pretty near each other that you can just walk around? (I'm thinking Chiang Mai)

3. Back to accommodations: is it adviceable to pre-book online? Or do you guys just look for a room/hotel once you get there? And is staying in the gym cheaper, more expensive, or about the same price as staying outside the gym?

Thanks in advance!

The Boon shop is pretty good.... 3-4 minutes motorbike taxi from On Nut BTS station. It's walkable in 10-15mins, but if you want a taxi just go up to the stand, say 'Boon' and put your hands up as if boxing. 20bht maximum.

As someone has already said, the topking shop near at the old Lumpini stadium is pretty good as well.
