Gym/Training Muay Thai Gym Q&A

N su
If you're only going for 2 weeks then I wouldn't bother taking it easy now. Ideally you want to hit the ground running. 2 of my mates made 23/24 sessions arriving on sunday morning training monday afternoon. They trained through (minor) injuries, just tell your trainers so they can work around them. For 4 weeks, I always had some injury or other, took some pain killers when needed, plenty of time to recover when I got back.
Some people recommend taking it easy first week, maybe if you're staying a few months. 2 weeks, train hard, don't waste time.

I had 7 towels, I only used once for each session before washing. Might look into the microfiber ones mentioned.

Yeah the jet lag will give you extra energy so you will be able to train a lot during that boost. Make sure you eat a lot to have energy. Keep sparring until the last week before you fly over. Depending on your conditioning, you maybe be able to hit two sessions a day instead of 1 faster.

Just got to sinbi today.

If you are flying in, you can get sinbi to send you a taxi driver or just go to the desk. I should be there until the 29th if things go well.

Any idea how much they charge? Would I be better off finding my own cab at the airport (the yellow stand somewhere on the right like Ryukyu mentioned :)) or getting one of the Sinbi ones arranged?

not sure if serious :P
Just think if staying 2-3 weeks, you need to go hit the ground running. 4 weeks + i would definatley ease into it. i stayed 4 weeks and eased into it. everyone is different meh

Well I got a running start until I started fading after week 2.

Just watched some muay thai at Bangla, our fighter won, but it seems her opponent took a dive or something towards the end. She wasn't doing quite well then they said technical knockout on doctors orders lol when she got some good hits.

All the other fights were pretty good though, quite a few knockouts that night.

My month at sinbi ends on the 23rd so I'll either renew for a few days or get another accomodation or move on. Plenty of time to decide.

It happened so fast, but what I heard was that her opponent took a knee in the chest or something and they stopped the fight. It was her first fight and she was nervous, I could sense it in the ring.

On another note, a hooker my roommate fucked before I got here knocked on our door at 4am looking for some action last night:/

They charge 1000bht. I thought it was great, especially after nearly 24 hours travelling, to have someone waiting with a name board for me, who knew exactly where they are going.

So this past weekend I drove to Patong on my motorbike. It wasn't so bad, if you are use to hills and don't hit the curves fast you'll be fine. Saw Man of Steel at Jungceylon and it was good. The shopping area was nice, I finally got a haircut and ate some real food.

The way back was tougher, so easy to get lost at night, but I did finally make it back. Saw some thai guys drag a very long dead python across the road, reminds me not to camp in a Jungle lol.

Haven't been keeping up with my blog since the Full Moon Party, been busy lately, but I should get back to it. I also started private training sessions, they gave me Fhad as my trainer and the session went well. I should start filming my training montage today if Dave shows up.

Would you recommend getting a motorbike for someone that's never been on one? Is it manageable or will I write myself off?

It's almost as riding a bike. The more you ride the better you get. Just stay to the side and go at your own pace until you get more comfortable. You don't need one, but it makes everything more bearable as walking in the heat sucks. Ask someone to show you how or rent a moped back home.

Yeah i've already read that thread. Looking for more info :P

I really miss thailand :( i'm already planning my next trip. How you liking sinbi so far?

Did you check out the article on fightpassport.com ?

Sinbi so far is good, definitely more people around my age to talk to. The key to getting the most out of it is to do some private sessions so the trainers will definitely put more effort into you. I am worked hard, but not pressured to do the entire 2 hours if I don't feel up to it.

How was Patong? Good to place to have fun and train? Too distracting?

I'm thinking of staying a night there and maybe going to Koh Phi Phi for a weekend or something.
