Shoop MS PAINT v4 SHOOP CONTEST: UFC 247 & 248! OPEN SIGN UP!!

U r right I just lied and you’re the best artist in the world! Please forgive me!If I can paint with my finger on an IPhone, what make u think I can’t paint? Let’s stay civil and forget this. U know and I know that the proportions are perfect on that example that’s impossible to be done bye the human eye unless you’re a robot!

Proportions weren't perfect but they'll get better, thanks though.

guys take this elsewhere like in a PM. Or you can PM me.

Looks like all these phone paintings have opened up a debate lol
I 100% agree with you that the MS Paint thing should be kept simple. Drawing using a pen on large screen like a tablet brings this shit to a whole other level. Wouldn't that be like drawing on paper?

Trying to draw something in MS Paint on computer using a mouse is tough as shit.If people are gonna start using pens or special apps it's gonna get messy real quick tbh

Well the issue with using so many different programs is how they brush, how the brush acts, fills, whether they use vector lines, etc. MS Paint behaves a certain way. It's brush strokes look a certain way. The edges look like MS Paint edges. Everyone has to use programs that replicates this pretty much 100%. I can tell these types of things but would hate to DQ someone if they didn't use a comparable program.

I'm kinda torn on the whole pen thing along with drawing tablets and $900 fricking dollar monitors. We will have to work it out man. Things always get more complex as we do these contests don't they Sans?

I use a pen too and what I found the last time (I've only used Paint a few times) is after my initial sketch I used my mouse and barely touched the pen and it really isn't a benefit in Paint as pressure sensitivity doesn't exist and the linework we can achieve is better with a mouse IMO.

I think pressure sensitivity works on a lot of other programs and I get what you're saying about alienating mobile and Mac users but programs which allow layers and masks shouldn't be allowed as it puts everyone who uses paint at a disadvantage.

I know not many will use layers and masks but whilst drawing it offers a big advantage.

I think what Sans is saying is that it just so much easier to draw something, even just the outline, with a pen than a mouse. Just having that "initial sketch" done by a tablet/pen or w.e is an advantage.

yeah I get all of what’s being said. I think to a certain extent we have to rely on our community and the shoppers here just to be real and honest. This becomes a lot less complicated if we all don’t blur the line. I asked about a pen, it’s obviously something that causes some controversy so simply put in just not gonna go there. It’s really hard but I’ll use my fingers and do my deal without it. The whole points to have fun anyway and if there’s fighting or arguing, we’ll, that’s defeated the point hasn’t it?

I can agree with this, I just don't feel it's that huge but if you want to exclude tablets and pens then that's fine. I feel programs which support layers and masks and have stuff like opacity and flow are at a bigger advantage though.

We can discuss that elsewhere. I am 50/50 on it as of right now.

Stuff like this happens bro. Issues come up and they get solved. Then things come up.. and then another.. and then another. Then everything is solved and running smoothly until more things come up... and then another.. and another.. And then @Clippy and @Medulla Omoplata come along and all chaos breaks out. In other words "We have been there, done that". :D

I do have some other concerns that are more than just about pen/tablets and we will work those out too. I don't really want to say too much about them right now, because it will get complicated. I have a lot on my brain and if I said them all we would be debating for days.

And also it not just about being real an honest (although that is a HUGE PART!), because people can make legit mistakes that are grounds for a DQ and I sure as hell wouldn't want to do that. Everything has to be spelled out properly so there are no questions. These contests are big business now haha.

I will have to look into it man. @MacGregor @Buff @true_fan can you guys chime in? any other mobile users can you add to this? And all of you please please please read my last post as it has to do with what @Zebra Cheeks and I are talking about. This can turn into a major issue if we aren't careful. We definitely don't want people using high end art programs (edit: or even a low end one for that matter) here but yours sounds fine. @Arqueto you too cause you are a tablet user.

I tagged everyone on the contest.
I have used this app. It is just like using MS paint back in the early days. He would actually be at a disadvantage because it has less features than modern Paint. A4BD5830-F482-4CDD-AFC8-0D9D6A3AFB12.png6E7DD7DE-6B2D-42EE-983B-3FD61CEA3956.png

You must be rich.

My biggest problem, for right now anyways, is the way a Pen acts. They can have pressure sensitivity, tapered edges, color dynamics, shape dynamics, opacity jitter/transfer, scattering, and even control what is called "flow" - and more! These features are all so thoroughly against the spirit of this contest and would ruin it. I am going to have to discuss this. @Empty Emp said these featured wont work in MS Paint, but I don't know how they work with Mac's Paintbrush or other programs the cell/tablet people may be using. Honestly if actually using MS Paint in an MS Paint contest becomes a hindrance, then this contest is all but dead. At first I wanted to disallow any non MS Paint programs all together but I didn't want to alienate the Mobile crowd and Mac users.

MS Paint only

For the competition i use Paintbrush with mouse because i have a IMac. If we’re doing MS Paint only then I’m out.

Sorry. I didn't think asking "Can I use a pen?" would cause so much controversy. To add my two cents, I don't think it should be banned just because you probably won't be able to tell if someone uses a pen. For the record, I'm just going to use a mouse.

$900 fricking dollar monitors
It's actually a full Windows computer, not just a monitor. I couldn't justify spending that much on one of those Wacom Cintiqs.

I feel like Mac users purposely alienated themselves anyway by purchasing a mac

lol we've had several page discussions on the allowable use of fried chicken in a shoop, a pen debate is worthy of a month long assembly.

MSPaint or eq, Mac paintbrush or whatever on mobile.

Use a mouse or your finger  and draw. No layers or other trickery.

If someone wants to be a cheatin dork then whatever, I ain't worried, it's just a fun contest. IMO. But they know deep up inside themselves that their a cheating dork.

Just so everyone knows: I am extremely susceptible to peer pressure
