It's not tradition. We've proven beyond a doubt that it isn't tradition. You have no argument that it is tradition outside of "that wasn't how I grew up with marriage!" but even then, there was no federal law defining marriage between a man and a woman till the fucking 1990s!!!

At this point, if you use the word tradition, you are trolling.

And no, I don't think homosexual sex is considered "rank" nor do I think about it anywhere as near as you do, apparently. Maybe you should stop thinking about it and it won't bother you.

then you are more desensitized to filth than I am. its no wonder you hold the position that you do. I would love to just be myself and shoot straight from the hip with you, but you will cease any opportunity to stick a proverbial foot up my bum

Their beliefs are similarly horrific to Jews and Christians. If I don't go after Muslim CEOs of major companies, it is not because they are Muslim, but rather because they either don't exist or don't engage in public speech that way. When one does, I hope he gets thrown out of his job as well.

I'd gladly boycott a company because the new CEO donated to a campaign to force women to where burkhas, or any other stupid shit Muslims believe.
Yeah, not rocket surgery.

Unlike fighting for equal rights, this is some real acting "like a bunch of bitch ass babies". Care to guess why someone in the US might be more concerned about the influence of christians on policy and society?

no, not really

well that is good to hear (seriously)

So you reject some portions of the bible. Why are you the final arbitrator on what parts should be rejected? How do you know that you're rejecting the correct parts and someone that thinks gays can marry is wrong?

nobody, why do you assume that I think like that in the first place?, you have some severe issues

Do you think that anal sex should be outlawed entirely? Because that probably disgusted you, but I don't see you voicing it should be illegal.

Seems to center around homosexuals. Which kinda makes you sound bigoted.

You've explicitly stated this:
"those that acknowledge that what they are doing is against their own religion"
Meanwhile you reject biblical literalism and reject a variety of other mandates about your own religion. You reject parts of the bible but are condemning those that reject different parts.

I don't think you've really thought about what you're saying because you're massively contradicting yourself.
no, not really
Fine, I'll answer for you: One matters and one doesn't. I regularly post about the insanity and vileness of various islamic beliefs. They're a lot less relevant to my day to day life than are the insanities and vileness of various christian beliefs.

Do you oppose homosexual marriage on religious grounds?

Do you oppose picking up sticks on a Saturday on religious grounds?

I think it should be compulsory.

I think Glennrod means well, but he's clearly shooting at the gut here. He personally finds homosexuality disgusting and that is why he doesn't want them to marry. Everything else is just a distraction.

haha, I have a comment on this, but as you are so thirsty to beat me up in this debate, I wont mention the fact that I would, and have, kicked the back doors in before...oh wait:rolleyes:

and I knew you would say that..hence why I said no, thanks for the education though

I agree. Importantly, in other posts he has acknowledged that gays should not be discriminated against. I think it is always useful to recognize and strip away the basis of our own prejudices
(I certainly have my own prejudices and try to examine them).

Glennrod currently sheaths his prejudices under the guise of "religion and tradition". When those are shown to not actually support his prejudices perhaps progress can be made.

What about the first part?

If you knew, and presumably agree, why bring it up?

unless they have PILES :icon_neut

I think you mean well too, I just think you are upset that life will end for you one day, and you are mega jelly of my belief in the resurrection.

Agreed. Glennrod is honest about everything as well, I kinda appreciate that, unlike others in this thread who tried to jump in. Hell, some people just aren't going to be for gay marriage, I get that. I was more focusing on the fact that if it is alright for someone to have negative thoughts on gay marriage, than gays who want to get married should be able to distance themselves from those people publicly. It is a bizarre double standard if they can't.

What about the first part?

Do you begrudge me for not taking the bible as the complete accurate truth?, I am aware of the way man has been shaped into behaving through fear mongering

see, I appreciate that, but if you could say it to me, rather than about me, then maybe I could find it in myself to love you...(no homo of course)

I think he's saying you can't justify your gay marriage opposition by using the bible of you blatantly ignore other parts of the bible.

No, I couldn't compliment you directly. Way too gay.

If they got piles, I put em in the piledriver.

And I don't know why someone would be jealous of the completely pathetic belief that it's okay that your life sucks because there will be a better one later.

If your life sucks, change it. Because you'll never get another chance to exist.

that's why I don't thump the proverbial bible in here, especially in this issue. I believe in jesus Christ, and im proud of that, I also believe in a lot of the stuff that I have read in the bible as it is actually appearing to come true today, even stranger is the fact that the bible and the quran both have predictions that seem to be coming true and that scares the shit out of me. I know that I am opening myself to attack by being so honest, but I don't care

No, I don't begrudge that at all. A belief in the infallibility and complete accuracy of the bible would require you to be insane.
The issue is that you have chosen to reject certain parts of the bible. Simultaneously you are castigating others, including a methodist minister for also rejecting certain parts of the bible. They reject (some) different parts than you do, what makes you right?
