Movies Movies that deeply affected you in someway.

One summer break in the 80s I watched Howard The Duck at least 50 times as a bored kid.
Im not sure exactly how I was affected by the movie, but I'm sure it has deeply affected me as a person to this day.

Cry Freedom. We were learning about Apartheid at school and I was already down the U2, Simple Minds Artists Against Apartheid rabbit hole.
Our teacher did it over two lessons but I was a blubbering wreck, my best friend had to hold my hand.

Conversely, the "la la la la" in songs like that are called "vocables" which I only found out recently.

Meaning of vocable in English

a sound that is used in a particular language, especially one that is not considered a word, for example a sound such as "la" used in music or an exclamation such as "huh" : They sing rhythmic dance tunes using abstract vocables or nonsense lyrics.

I love finding new language stuff. I found a tummy rumble is known as a wamble.

Seventh seal
Jacobs ladder

It's not that it showed me something new but just very profound movies about life and death

Ladder was a beast. Laying on the table the whole time, and watching it all go past. Brother, I'm going to watch that now. It touches on crazy mind control experiments they were doing back in the day. I assume they are still doing it to this day.

Ellen Burstyn in Requiem For a Dream.

I saw my mother in her and swore I would never let her down the way her son failed her.

To this day the things I never got around to doing for her haunt me.

Great call with Jacob’s ladder.

After I had my large intestine removed I was on withdrawal due to the morphine and had passed out after convulsing - I experienced something very similar to the bathtub scene. It really did feel like I died. Crazy thing is after I was conscious I had no recollection of it for a few hours. I can still smell the nasal cannula. Good times.
