Tobin Bell's Jigsaw is Back in the Official Trailer for SAW X; In Theaters Sept. 29

John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most disturbing installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.

Sorry to say this, GSM, but the Saw and It 3 trailers you posted are not legit. They are just fan-made trailers.

So I heard in passing, and disgust, there's another Saw film coming out this year.

Haven't heard anything about it other than that until I saw this trailer...

...which was released 10 days ago. And it just now popped up in my feed.

That's abysmal. Mostly because it just shows victims in traps, which is what I hated thats what the Saw series has become, just seeing people being tortured, screaming, and dying horribly.

I consider Saw 1 & Saw 2 to be two of the best horror movies of the last 20 years, and rejected the criticism they were 'torture porn' because they had great plots and twists. They were actually quite light on gore, but filmed and edited in a way your mind fills in the blanks, like all great horror.

Unfortunately, the later sequels embraced the 'torture porn' label and became lazier and lazier as they became gorier and gorier.

I could discuss each in detail, but that's for another topic that I'd participate in if only there'd be multiple posters interested in participating.

Anyway, there's three things that is interesting about this new movie -

*Its set between Saw 1 & Saw 2, my two favorites.

*They're bringing back many of the original cast - Tobin Bell, Shawnie Smith, etc.

*Its directed by the director of Saw6, who's widely considered to be the best director of the franchise besides James Wan. (He also directed Saw7/3D, but it was horrible because of the 3D effects).

The premise, according to Wikipedia -
"Set between the events of Saw and Saw II, a sick and desperate John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.

So am I going to be seeing it?
Absolutely not.
I skipped out on the 8th movie, and glad I did. I later saw a pirated copy and it basically was a copy & paste of the prior movies.
I actually paid to see the 9th movie because it showed promise with Samuel L Jackson & Chris Rock. It sucked.

And now this new movie threatens to shit on my fond memories and opinion of the first two movies.
I'm not falling for it.

I could go more into detail but this post is long enough already.

IT Chapter 3

Well shit... been falling for alot of bullshit lately.

Edit - Just rewatched the fake trailer, and it says its being released on Oct.27th, not Sep.29th which is the real release date. Though the footage looks legit, and not from other Saw movies... of the victims in the traps at least. Very clever. Don't feel ashamed for being fooled at all. They did a very good fake trailer.

Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman Actor, Dies at 70 After Private Bout of Cancer

kWNhdyo.jpg

Paul Reubens, who disappeared behind a tight gray suit and bright red bow tie to create and star as the awkward man-child Pee-wee Herman on stage, on a groundbreaking kids TV show and on the big screen, has died. He was 70.

His death in Los Angeles was announced Monday on his official Facebook page.

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” a statement read. “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

Reubens created Pee-wee (named for a brand of harmonica he had when he was a kid) while with the Los Angeles comedy troupe The Groundlings in 1978, then took the character to the stage after failing to land a spot on Saturday Night Live in 1980. His performance was captured for an HBO special in 1981.

Reubens showed up in the Cheech & Chong films Next Movie (1980) and Nice Dreams (1981) and made the first of his many bizarre appearances on Late Night With David Letterman — always in character and keeping his real identity a secret — in 1982.

He starred as Pee-wee during a 22-city tour of the U.S., including a stop at Carnegie Hall in 1984, and then in Warner Bros.’ Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985), directed by Tim Burton. That resulted in a sequel, Randal Kleiser’s Big Top Pee-wee (1988).

His career suffered a serious setback in July 1991 when he was arrested for indecent exposure in an adult theater in Sarasota, Florida. In November 1991, he pleaded no contest to the charges in Sarasota. As part of his deal, he did 75 hours of community service and created and financed antidrug public-service announcements.

In Los Angeles, Reubens was charged in 2002 with misdemeanor possession of obscene material improperly depicting a child under the age of 18 in sexual conduct. Those charges were eventually dropped. He would say that he was a collector of erotica and didn’t want anyone “for one second to think that I am titillated by images of children.”

Reubens played the Penguin’s father in Burton’s Batman Returns and appeared in another 1992 film, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He would also work on the big screen in Dunston Checks In (1996), Mystery Men (1999) — as a superhero whose power is flatulence — Ted Demme’s Blow (2001) — as a drug dealer in a rare dramatic turn — and Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime (2009).

Reubens recurred on Murphy Brown as Andrew J. Lansing III, the nephew of Garry Marshall's network president (he landed a non-Pee-wee Emmy nom for that), from 1995-97 and on Steven Soderbergh's Mosaic as JC Schiffer, a confidant of Sharon Stone’s character, in 2018. He also appeared on TV on Everybody Loves Raymond, Reno 911!, Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, What We Do in the Shadows, The Blacklist and Portlandia.

He was a voice actor on projects including Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Star Wars Rebels, Robot Chicken, Family Guy, TRON: Uprising, Smurfs, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Minecraft: Story Mode and Call of Duty.

Marvel Studios VFX Workers File to Join IATSE Union

VFX-Union-Publicity-H-2023.jpg

Visual effects crews at Marvel Studios filed Monday for a unionization election with the National Labor Relations Board, according to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

The labor organization said that Marvel’s more than 50-worker crew had signed authorization cards indicating they wished to be represented by the union. These are VFX pros employed directly by Marvel and generally work in Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York. It doesn’t include the thousands of VFX artists that work on Marvel movies through third-party VFX studios.

The VFX industry has been mostly non-union since Star Wars ushered in the modern era of visual effects in the late 1970s and IATSE, at least, believes a major shift in the labor landscape is overdue. The VFX industry explored the potential of a union a decade ago following the bankruptcy of Rhythm & Hues in the wake of finishing the Oscar-winning work on Life of Pi, but it never materialized. More recently, a new effort to organize started, and today’s announcement marks the first group to come forward as part of this plan. It’s unclear at this stage which IATSE Local these artists would work under, or if a new local would be formed.

While the labor movement in Hollywood has shown its muscle by basically shutting business down in the entertainment industry, showcasing the power of union organization, there are likely other factors at work as well.

This effort to collectivize comes after a tumultuous several months in the field. In March, Marvel fired Victoria Alonso, who oversaw VFX at Marvel, though the departure was said to be over issues unrelated to those duties. Marvel was also hit with bad headlines featuring anonymous VFX pros complaining about untenable conditions, including long hours and seven-day weeks.

Isabella Huffman, a visual affects coordinator at Marvel who counts Hawkeye as one of her credits, said in a statement that working conditions were harsh in that part of the industry.

“Turnaround times don’t apply to us, protected hours don’t apply to us, and pay equity doesn’t apply to us,” she stated in IATSE’s announcement. “Visual Effects must become a sustainable and safe department for everyone who’s suffered far too long and for all newcomers who need to know they won’t be exploited.”

It's a lot of work doing shoops. Which is basically what teh pro movie makerz are doing with all these special effects.

I didn't know pro-shooperz were over-worked but under-appreciated. On the real, they should at least get a small cut of a "highly tweeked" movie that does well... because they drive it.

If that's not possible (due to the business model) they either need to be paid more generously for their time, or we have to strike. Makes sense to me.

Maybe I can come in as a shooper while teh rest are pursuing their union... lol... just saying that it openz teh door to a lot of new-commerz to teh scene, when teh professionalz are over-priced. (that's why getting a small piece of final sales are so important. Teh proz get rewarded when a movie doez well)

Pro-Shooperz... are under-priced in their opinion obviously... but that does make room for teh next generation of shooperz. Perhaps they're weeding out teh OG'z?
