Motley Crue is now "oldies" music

At my casino, on Frdays they play mix and match of Oldies music. So they were playing The Platters... then Smoking in the Boys Room played by Motley Crue. Never felt so old in my life.

But I guess they were big FORTY years ago. That's like playing WW2 music on MTV back in the 80s along with Guns N Roses and Metallica.
That s one realisation that blew my mind recently. The 80‘s is mid point between WWII and now

Makes sense. I remember in the early 2010's when I was still listening to radio, they had Guns n Roses on the oldies station.

Smoking in the boys room already felt old when it came out.

Lol even avenged sevenfold is considered oldies and they were popular in 2007.

‘Classic Rock’ still means the same thing -Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, Creedance and so on..

I don’t think anyone -Gen Z included- hears the term ‘classic rock’ and thinks ‘Nirvana’. If you tell just about anyone from any generation alive right now that you like classic rock they know what you mean. I’m sure on a long enough timeline that will change but it hasn’t yet.

Keep in mind all these genres already have their own nick names anyway like ‘the Grunge era’ or ‘90’s rap’.. people into music at all ages right now know the distinguishing lines between a lot of them even if they’re too young to have heard all of it.

Motley 1st album was 45yrs ago brah....
That album need to have yearly prostate exam....
Crue intro my way was this caveman-nasty tune that was, like the 80's, a total blast.

Full time IT student, turnin' wrenches, with daily drivers a '71 455HO Pontiac Trans Am and a 1981 Suzuki GS 1100 EZ crotch rocket. 1st shift college, 2nd shift mechanic/metal fabrication work, 3rd shift winding down, rinse & repeat until week end insanity time.

Saturday/Sunday fun drag racing a street legal 454 cubic inch big block '70 Chevelle and/or a 1975 Kawasaki Widowmaker 750 Triple 2 Stroke beast.

Crue music fueled my high energy lifestyle, no caffeine needed.

It's not oldies but it is on classic rock stations now. So is Van Halen and GNR. So what. Still better than anything being put out today. These acts continue to tour and sell out arenas.

Vince Neil came into my work and made a big scene when the 30 year old server didnt know who he was and that was probably 10 years ago.

Should of had her fired for that.

Considering rock music isn't even really popping like that anymore. Most of it can now be considered oldies.

B real loathes vince neil he would get black out drunk at the rainbow bar and grill in Hollywood which a lot of celebrities frequented and menace everyone. He would drive out drunk this is a guy who killed someone DUI before. Vince neil is also the worst performance I ever saw live at the long beach grand prix.
