Movies Most Underrated Spike Lee Movie

he's definitely done some films that make me wonder why he put in the effort, but Eastwood has a few of those two.
Agreed Eastwood does have some stinkers but he's made a billion films and some of them are legit great films. Unforgiven is the last great western imo.

certainly, with the sort of workrate they both have, a few stinkers are to be expected.

‘Summer of Sam’ by a mile imo. The casting was spot on in that film and so was the story.

Inside man is one of my favorite movies. I didn’t know spike lee directed it until years later

A lot of people have told me over the years they didn’t know Spike directed Inside Man

A movie with Denzel, Jodie Foster and Clive Owen doesn’t seem like a typical Spike Lee joint

‘Open Range’ is a great western/film too. Costner at his very best
Yeah that's a solid late western and Duvall is always good. Not too many even watchable from the 2000s though. The Proposition is another good one from that era.

I mostly agree with you since ‘Unforgiven’ -which btw can ascend genre and be in the discussion for one of the greatest films made - so it’s almost unfair in some ways to hold up other westerns next to it because there aren’t many westerns before it that are in its league either.

All that said, ‘Open Range’ was a breath of fresh air for the genre at the time and is incredibly well done. I’d put it on almost any ‘western’ short list personally.

And for what it’s worth -I’m not really a Costner fan, he’s very hot or miss for me personally

Summer of Sam
Unequivocally this. Every summer I make it a point to watch "hot movies" where the heat is present as a factor or plays a part in the characters stories (Predator 2, Die Hard 3) and I always start that run off with Summer of Sam
