he's not a hack, some of his scripts are not that good but the other stuff is usually pretty darn good, cinematography, music, color. but, some of the films are lackluster for sure, at least to me.

‘Clockers’ is my favorite Spike Lee joint. Also the most underrated out of his films that could qualify as good. I believe it was originally going to be a Scorsese project but he ended up producing it for Lee. Very good movie

Spike Lee was credited as Presenter, whatever that means, for the movie CSA: The Confederate States of America, which in many ways feels inspired by Spike Lee’s style. If you haven’t seen that, and you like Spike Lee movies, definitely watch it.
