Most regarded BJJ practitioner to get subbed in MMA?

Context?, submission means to submit. this can be done across various things, sexually, financially. Its not a terminology that needs changing. its pretty clear cut as it is

No matter how you put it. The ref put an end to it for his sake. Gracie's "no tap" motto is ridiculous. How do you think that fight would end if Saku broke his arm? You think he would be able to defend himself after that? He will get the worst beatdown of his life...

Not a submission but this pass was quite easy for Penn...

Attempt? you can attempt something, but if it doesn't work it doesn't count. whats next, is a "verbal submission" set to change?, "he didn't actually say it, but he was thinking it" :icon_neut

This line of thinking is stupid. Fine he didn't "submit" but he was outgrappled and lost via a grappling technique so either way Saku proved he was a better grappler than any of the Gracies he faced. Go cry in a corner now.

Obviously Eddie Bravo Vs Gracie... twice!!!

aaaaand \thread

A lot of Pride tears got shed when Mir broke big Nogs arm. I loved it!

Jorge Gurgel was submitted by Imanari if it wasn't mentioned yet.

LOL ten pages and we're still taking being submitted versus losing to a submission?

It is so the same thing.

All you get is foolish ballbag points that you can't redeem anywhere, have your recovery/training phase made needlessly difficult and your record looks the exact same in either case.

Not sure whats going on in this thread, but sakuraba did not submit ANY of the gracies

No, im a simple man when it comes to the definition of KO's and submissions. I don't give a shit what Wikipedia says either, no tap, no submission. some people are that crazy that they "would rather have their arm broken than submit" ...to quote a Gracie. Renzo is proud that he didn't submit to a broken arm...didn't submit

It's called a technical submission guys. It's when you're misguided that you don't know tapping is the best thing to do.

This seems to be one of those cases where "simple" just is another way to say "stupid".

Mario Sperry getting subbed by Zinoviev was the first one that came to mind.

All the more reason it should be considered a TKO and not a submission. Submission means you're conceding defeat whereas a TKO is when the fight is stopped because a fighter isn't able to intelligently defend himself.

You're referring to a technical submission, which is a real thing.

You break a guy's arm or put him to sleep and he's not aware enough to tap, that's a technical submission.

McGreGOAT getting subbed by apparently retired at 23 GOAT Joseph Duffy shocked the world.
