Most expensive possession that's not a vehicle or dwelling?

I've had this bad boy for 20+ years. Neuser Cloudburst 6 string bass. It was about 3000€ new.

Nice... I might get a D850 in the next year. I have a D750 which is amazing, but I hear the D850 is the most amazing camera ever made.

That's the problem I have with cameras - every Nikon camera is the best camera ever made until the next one comes along. I don't trust what people online say - ANYONE who just dropped $3,000+ on a camera (or anything else for that matter) is going to defend their purchase, whether it's actually awesome or terrible. I remember when the 24-70 2.8 was THE lens. Sure enough - after I bought it, the 2nd version came out and everyone was hyping that one up and shitting on the first version. It's hard to tell who are photographers and who are gear whores online.

Your 750 is awesome - I had mine until the 500 came out, then switched because of the FPS and buffer size.

Yeah, I'll research more. If I am going to get the D850, it won't be a for a few months at least.

Also, the increasing pixel count is a double edged sword. Yeah, you get more resolution with the D850, but the pictures (especially RAW) or HUGE. They'll take a ton of space on a hard drive and much longer to edit.

Yeah, the 42mp or whatever is overkill to me. 36 is already more than I need - I could print billboards with that thing and don't need to.

Its the way of all tech of course trying to draw in people who buy new gear for the sake of it, Sony are even worse for that having to have a latest model come out ever few months claiming to be a great leap forward.

The D850 does look a bit different in that Nikon seem to have stopped doing what they and Canon have been accused of in the past, limiting cameras to make room for upgrades or protecting flagship models like the D5, this time they really do seem to have made as good a camera as they can at this stage.

The big issue though is always going to be output isn't it? if your printing small or not at all then 45 MP and ultra low image noise isn't going to be as big an advantage. I certainly wouldn't own a D800 if I wasn't selling large(up to 30x20 inchs or 40x15 inchs) prints from it where the extra performance is notable.

if Ebay prices are to be believed, I have about 6-7K in shoes just chilling in my closet

This thread makes me realize how little my stuff is worth LOL.

I do spend money on motorcycles, but the thread rules said no vehicles, so honestly I think everything else in my entire house is worth less than a grand.

Yeah, just because any vehicle is expensive and just about everyone own a vehicle.

Garbage Pail Kid collection. Complete sets from series 2 thru 14. Lots of loose cards and sealed packs also. Fuck the new ones that are out though bunch of fake ass busters.

In terms of collections I'v got quite a lot of Led Zeppelin bootleg CD's that are probably worth a few thousand, picked up where ever I could find them relatively cheaply over the last 20+ years, maybe a few somewhat rare photography books as well.

Got a nice Tag Carrera cost about 2 grand

After that I'm struggling.. I spend my money on holidays mostly
