Montano stripped of FLW belt

Might as well just not have the division at all, as a matter of fact

There's barely enough talent in wmma to sustain 2 weightclasses. Adding more is a marketing stunt to hand a certain fighter a belt (Cyborg, Schevchenko), but ends up hurting wmma in the long run

Obviously, this is how he's trying to build new divisions. Or did you want Bellator to scoop up the fighters because the UFC didn't have such a division? How else do you attract more women fighters?

Cyborg is a huge ass draw all by herself. This is why it's important to build a new division for her. AND, Bellator has a 145 division already, this makes the UFC look bad.

No it doesn't, because no one wants to watch any 145lb wmma other than Cyborg.

Whatever their intentions, what ends up happening is this: they have to populate the division to make Cyborg's "reign" seem legit, so they find some cans, and then eventually we end up having a PPV with multiple low-level 145lb wmma fights. Sign me up!

The UFC's issue is not "attracting more women fighters." There's a finite number of first-tier wmma fighters, and 90% of them are already in the UFC. It is just a limited talent pool.

None of the new divisions serve to bring anyone new in... they just cannibalize the other divisions and make them even weaker

125 is the most heavily populated division in WMMA.

Yeah but it's entirely fighters from 115 and 135. Every fighter that moves to 125 makes those two divisions weaker

No, it is not.

If you look at the division even when there was no 125 division in the UFC, they had more women than any other division. It has been the most heavily populated division for the better part of a decade.

Perfect !
Sometimes there is intelligent life in UFC...

Now, Joana vs Valentina is the fight to make...

125 is fine for women. As there's plenty of women who are that size when in shape.

The only reason some women used to fight at 135 and 115 was because there was no 125 division in the UFC.

I do agree that 145 is ridiculous. Only legit fighter there is cyborg. Not a lot of 135 women will move up permanently though. Only for a title fight like Holm and Nunes.

If you don’t like female fights then you didn’t watch the females fight in the fight pass prelims today. It was awesome!

They should strip WMMA and send it over to Invicta. They deserve their own league, it's only fair. You don't seem NBA and WNBA merging do you?

Name 5 fights at 145 that you would want to watch on a PPV card

Eh there are a lot of girls that are inbetweeners. The one that doesn't fit is the 145 lb division

How do you know? And they're watching it in Bellator.

You can see the future? Big chicks can't train and get good? This can never happen?

Haha, so young teens and younger women should just give up right now and quit training b/c you know the future?

Where did Dana get those 8 new women at 145 for TUF then?

Should be given to the challanger. She was going to win anyway but she showed up and lost a chance of a lifetime. She should be the undisputed champion now and who ever the hell the number 2 is (lol) can fight her for the title.

Either way she the challanger I cant spell her name will win that title whenever she fights next so oh well. Wonder what the no name title fights get paid. The challanger is know and has had big fights Carolina or whatever but I wonder what she would have been paid had they fought and either won. Few hundred thousand?

125 is a good Division, 145 needs serious help but at least they are bringing bodies in for the slaughter!

... you are arguing that 145lb wmma has a deep talent pool. Seriously?

I don't even need to refute that because it's so self-evidently wrong.
