It's worse at high rank, starts costing a fortune to forge/upgrade. I'm down to like 4k just now.

I'm not having problem with money at all, but I just got to high rank and haven't upgraded anything there yet. Due to previous plays though, I didn't mess around with any other weapons other than Great Sword and Long Sword, so I was very focused on my weapon upgrades. I rocked the Pukei armor for a majority of Low Rank and finally switched things up in the last few hunts and only used Armor Spheres to upgrade my armor for the last two hunts with Diablos/Rathalos.
Going into High Rank I already have a set of desired skills I want to complement my Great Sword, so I won't mess around too much making random pieces. Its only been out for a week so there are not a lot resources out yet, but in previous games that had some pretty bad ass skill calculators that you could punch it your desired skills and it would spit out possible armor/charm combinations.
One thing to keep in mind, it's a good not just to have your battle armor but also put together a set of armor specifically for resource farming. In the higher ranks you start consuming a lot more resources since the quest box is empty starting at High Rank so you can't rely on the EZ Rations and First Aid Meds. So going out and getting extra resources from plants or an extra swing of a pick ax really pays off.

No issues with money yet, but I'm only at HR 9. My recent upgrades to armor and my LS left me with barely any, though. But I've yet to go to buy something and be flat out broke. It seems just right, but then again I only have been focusing on one weapon type this whole time. Or at least one AT at a time.

That's a great idea, i'll need to make some armour for farming. i'm starting to run low on certain items.

Nice! I haven't tested it on the Hammer, but I know it effects it. There is a skill called Focus that shortens the amount needed to charge weapon effects. So it for the Great Sword it reduces the charge time, Long Sword builds it's spirit meter faster, and the it reduces the time taken to charge the Hammer.
Currently you have the Attack Charm II, but it might be worth testing around with a Focus Charm. Attack Up certainly increase your overall damage output but a Focus charm might outpace that by squeezing higher level charge attacks in shorter attack windows.

The monsters in this game are incredibly badass. From the sleek Dragon/Articuno from hell Legiana to the Demonic Dragon Diablos, even early game they are too cool.

You probably are upgrading too much and not farming enough. Also you can sell a lot of monster parts that you don't end up using to maintain your money. You can literally farm some terrible mob like G Jag. and just sell all it's loot and you will be in a good spot money wise. (Edit to add: I literally did 15 G Jag. kills as soon as I got into high rank for money to fund my high rank, made an armor set and sold everything else.)
Also on odogoran (sp?) you just have to pick your spot right. A lot of it is experience based though so it just takes some attempts. The other thing is it's a good chance to practice not needing to roll or run to dodge most attacks because the bleeding is really only problematic then. It's mostly a problem if you over-react and don't stay patient.

To piggy back on this keep in mind crit is king in this game. Skills like weakness exploit tend to outpace everything as far as damage goes.

Charge blade is not for Diablos. You get trapped in animations using the big swings and he just stunlocks you with charges. Gonna go with the hammer here and see what happens.

Can you continually run into monsters you want to hunt in expeditions quickly, or once you take it out one time should you bail and start another expedition?
Also, any tips for traps or crafting or anything of the like? I don't think i've crafted a single new item yet, just potions etc.

I typically don't use Expeditions for hunting monsters for their materials because you'll miss out on a lot of mission rewards. Also in Expeditions, if you take to long to kill the monster they'll respawn at full health. I typically use expeditions for gathering materials like mining ore and bugs.
As for hunting monster over and over for materials it's better to farm them using Optional quests. Once you complete the Assigned quest their attached to, an Optional quest for the hunt will become available that you can repeat as many times as you want and will yield much better rewards and their always in the same spot so you get really efficient tracking them.
As for crafting/gathering tips, always keep your eye out for Flashbugs to create Flashpods(it's like a flash bang to blind enemies), Bitterbugs for making a Catalyst(main component for a TON of stuff), and Thunderbugs to make Shocktraps.
Also grab any Armor Seeds and Might Seeds for making Demon Drugs and Armor Skins. These potions increase your Attack and Defense during missions.
Never pass up on Honey. You can use these to turn your Potions into Mega Potions and you Nutrients into Mega Nutrients.
Another handy thing they added for this game is the ability to Auto Craft as you gather items. When you open your crafting menu, there is a check box next to the item. If you set it to Auto Craft as soon as you pick up a resource it will craft the item as long as you have the space. So if you have a Potion set up with Auto Craft, as soon as you pick up an Herb it will auto convert it into a Potion. Really handy ability that frees you from slogging through and manually crafting stuff you use frequently.

Great i'll try the focus charm then, i'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to skills i never bothered to look into it when i played on the 3DS.
