Some other skills to keep in mind are Critical Eye which increases Affinity(Crit%), Handicraft to boost weapon Sharpness, and(all around, not just Hammer) Ear Plugs. If you can boost to High Grade Earplugs it will negate monster roars. Any time a monster roars it's essentially free hits to their head. Some monster roar a ton and it locks them down for a pretty significant window.

While not a skill, Hammer users especially benefit from Dash Juice. While active your stamina doesn't deplete, so you can hold a charge attack for longer periods of time without having to worry about running out of stamina.

Currently trying to get a helm and the rathalos chest piece for weakness exploit and focus.

Struggling to get a rathalos ruby to drop.

And fighting a certain variant of a monster for the helm but i have like a 20% success rate it's kicking my ass

Came very close to smashing my controller, trying to capture a diablos and the black diablos is stuck to me like glue for a whole 40 minutes, fucking infuriating, got carted 3 times. What a waste of time.
 
HR Anajath down, this Rathian bar is filling up crazy slow. Been rocking the Great Sword and Long Sword exclusivly, but had the materials to make the straight metal path Rarity 5 Hammer and couldn't pass up on the Blue Sharpness it offered. Haven't used it yet in MHW, but lightly used it in previous. Not a huge jump from GS playstyle so looking forward to breaking some jaws.
 
I’m so dam confused , I’m about an hour in. What quests am I supposed to do? Who is that messenger girl and all the red dots on the map.

Somehow I ended up in like an online gathering place and couldn’t get out .

Still just very confused about it all, also my weapon is just the first one the giant sword. Did I make the right decision ? It’s kind of hard to use but I tried the katana and couldn’t use it .

You start with one of each weapon, so head to your living quarters on the boat and talk to your housekeeper and he will grant access to the Training Area. Check out each of the weapons and see which one feels the best for you. They are all really well balanced, so there is no "wrong" choice. The Great Sword is my weapon of choice. No gimmicks, tons of raw burst damage, but it's slow and you really have to know the mechanics of each fight and when to open up with combos. If you choose to stick with the Great Sword, NEVER walk around with your weapon unsheathed, you're a sitting duck. Rolling canceles the the heafty post attack animation, so after you finish your attack run, roll away, sheath your weapon, look for the next attack window --> repeat. My weapon stayes sheathed for 90% of the fight.

Katana is my back up weapon for faster enemies or first time encounters where i'm not familiar with their attack patterns. It has great reach for cutting off tails high up in the air, consistant damage output, and good manuverability. You can end a combo with Triangle+Circle and you'll perform a backstep attack that has a big damage arc and creates good distance when trying to move out of an enemy hit box.

As for progress, your Handler(chick always telling stuff) or the Questboard(there are a few around your camp) are where you go to get quests. Assignments drive the story forward and unlock more quests. Optional quests open up after you complete an Assignment for each specific hunt. The first real Assignment is to hunt a Great Jargas. You won't get enough resources to craft all his armor and weapons, so after you complete his Assignment quest you can continue to farm the Great Jargas under Optional Quests.

There are other things like Event Quests and Investigations, but you'll spend most of your time with Assignments and Optional Quests.

Thats the thing I truly hate about this game. I fought the damn aanjanath for 30 minutes and got carted so it was a complete waste. This game is more unforgiving than Souls in that respect
 
So Betelgeuse is literally a fleshy B-52 bomber. I was fighting a Diablos and see these things hitting the ground that exploded, look around and it’s a giant armadillo hawk dropping shit on me.
 
Can you hang out and play co op with a friend together on same tv in this game or is it impossible?

Wow hadn't been that frustrated in a game in ages. Could barely get 2 hits in without the other one flying out of the ground and knocking me into the air or blindsiding me with its charge attacks. I should have just quit.

Use Dungbombs when you get unwanted company. it makes the additional monster run off.
 
Pink Rath down and just opened up 7 Star quests and The Everstream. Pink Rath droped a Monster Hardbone which opened up a bunch of weapon upgrades so going to stick around and upgrade my Greatsword before I take on any more Assignments. I still haven't upgraded any of my armor since making it to HR. I have bits and pieces of the set I want to make, I just need to take the time to go on Expaditions and gather the parts I need.

Say you have to Farm 5 monsters, that’s easily 3 hours of gameplay. It’s no wonder some streamers i watched had 100+ hours into the game in one week. They all had rarity 8 gear and were fighting endgame shit tho
 
Do I have to heal the cat or does it heal and fight for itself?
