Multiplat Monster Hunter World

Any free roam in this? Wife hates the timed element, she likes to putz around in an open world.

Just had a productive expedition, my first co op experience. Killed a Pukei-Pukei, Tobi-Kadachi and the Anjanath

Where the fuck is the pukei pukei, been running around in circles

if you start from the NE camp in the Ancient Forrest, jump down and take the right path. you should run into tracks really close to camp. once you find the first track it should lead you to him really fast.

Haven't had a game sink its hooks into me like this in a while. About to head to the Rotten Vale, crafted a full Jyura set with a Blazing Hammer. Wrecking shit at this point.

Is that the hammer that you can make using the Anjanath parts? I went with the poison hammer but i'm considering swapping.

Got the pukei. How strong do you have to be to fuck with one of the T. rex things??

Yeah, I've been loving it. Been taking on Rathian's with it and they're fire resistant. The damage is so high even without the fire buff that they're constantly getting knocked down if I can keep the head damage up.

I took him down in full Pukei armor, the Sword and Shield, and full Palico gear. He can 1 shot you if you take a direct hit from a fireball, but you should be able to withstand a few hits no prob. Keeping up the poison affliction helps take him down pretty quick.

His charge was still two shotting me even after I'd downed him a few times.

I can't even imagine how much time I'm going to sink into this. I'm at like 15 hours and I've only tried two weapons lol.

Game is very fun but I might sit this one out until they streamline joining games to say the least with friends on your list.. very confusing experience and kind of ruining the game as a whole for me, really bumming me out hopefully they fix that.

Just purchased, installing now. Excitement level: high.

You on Xbox? I heard it's having major problems.

I've dumped hundreds of hours into handheld iterations of this game. MHW is everything I hoped for in a console release. I will probably play nothing else for like 6 months, which sucks becuase games I'm really excited for like Ni No Kuni 2 will be benched. I put about 15 hours in as well and I'm feinding for another session, but probably won't get another chunk of time to play until next weekend.

Next quest is the anjanth or whatever. It sucks that unless I have an hour to kill, doing a main quest is useless. It sucks even more that so far these large beasts don't seem to have much of a weakness. I mean they do, but just a couple of extra hit points because I hit one spot with an arrow doesn't feel like much. I was hoping for some genuine weaknesses, but instead it's been Dodge/shoot arrows, the thing runs to another area, follow it, rinse and repeat for 30 minutes and if I find a "weak" spot, 25 minutes.

And the menus don't seem to have improved much either - they feel very convoluted. Like ACG said in his review, its good overall but some parts of this game feel awfully antiquated and I feel it may be a turn off for newcomers.

Have you tried melee at all? I never used it in the previous games due to lack of dual analog on the 3DS, and have read that early game bows are lacking in DPS. It might be worth using melee for a bit until you can get you hands on some better bows with elemental/status effects.
