Multiplat Monster Hunter Wilds "We Are So Back" Hype Thread

I just fought the two fire gorilla things. I actually like how this game is just fight after fight. I don’t have to platform some giant monster or man siege weapons. Much prefer this approach to World.

I think what makes this so much easier is the wound mechanic. Just hitting it stuns the monster and then it’s GG’s when you break it.

Still enjoying it quite a bit though. Been carted a few times from being careless and getting hit with a huge attack but yeah, I can notice a big difference between this and World. I remember even Diablos kicking my ass for a good bit.
Play Rise and its expansion Sunbreak then. You'd love it based on what you said here. Rise is on PS Plus Extra or Essential. Can't remember which one

I actually own it on Steam. Played a couple of hours but got sidetracked with something else at the time. I’ll definitely have to get back to it.

Title update a month after release leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This might be my last MH game.

Poor update or you mean it came too late for your liking?

New update is out. High Rank Zoa Shia is stretching quite a few buttholes from the sounds of things.

I knew that was going to be the case. Even in low rank he took a while to go down and he’s got so many AoE attacks that it’s going to be hard for other players to avoid taking damage. He’s got the best looking armor in the game though so I will try to farm him. I’m currently playing The First Berserker Khazan and finding it hard to take a break from that game. Really fun. Great year of games so far

Wtf, main story over in less than 20 hours?

That’s Wild
I cleared the main story in about 10 hours. I ended up not farming for stuff like i did in World as the game wasn't challenging at all and i used the basic hammer but still ended hunts in 5 - 10 minutes. In base World i probably played 100 hours before seeing the credits.

Is it perhaps because the series was fresher when you played MHW, and did all the box checking bullshit before the "end"? This seems like a natural transition, where people familiar with the franchise just rush to the end to open up more advanced shit.

I don't know, but I remember vets saying the same thing about MHW, only it wasn't as emphasized. It is a very weird franchise, where the games really open up after you "beat" it.

I beat it in like 12 hours or something. Skipped every cutscene. It was awful. High rank is way more enjoyable.

I did a decent amount of farming and was around 15 hours. Didn’t skip any cutscenes but I should have.

Unless I’m completely misremembering, World had a ton of variety in the monsters that really stretched out the initial game. I didn’t even mind hunting two different kinds of Rathalos, it still kept things feeling fresh.

When I saw the credits roll I’d realized I’d already tackled most of the monsters several times with next to no issue and didn’t really feel compelled to go again. Mentioned it in another thread but I think I’ll hold off until more monsters and introduced and maybe even until there’s an expansion.

I enjoyed a lot of this game but the ease and lack of content are valid complaints and overall, I think it’s a step back from World.

Try the monsters that just dropped in the title update. Capcom took offense to the difficulty complaints and it shows.

My previous experience of the games will certainly be a factor, sure. The more dominant factor is that i find the game is simply more streamlined and easier.

Can't speak for vets as i've only played World and Wilds but even comparing my more recent playthoughs of World to Wilds i still have a more challenging experience playing the former that means spending more playtime not just dealing with the monsters but also optimizing my builds to meet these challenges.

I wasn't intending to get through Wilds main story as quickly as i did. While reaching endgame is nice i actually enjoy the grind and build crafting but because i was having too easy of a time compared to World i simply did not spend the extra time optimizing builds because the lack of challenge was hurting my experience of the game.

Basically, my playthroughs of World made me take the time to optimize my build due to being challenging and Wilds did the reverse.

Difficulty fetishists rejoice. HR Zoh Shia and tempered Mizutsune have arrived to shit on you.
Temp Mizutsune looks horrifying. Seen a a lot of high level players with fully upgraded builds getting one shot and/or whole teams deleted in one tail whip.
