Monster Hunter...Enlighten Me

That from Reddit? They're malding over there. I got the necessary elemental flinch to nerf the AoE in like 2 minutes with the ice cb. They just don't know the fight yet.
Yeah, they ain't happy over there. It sounds like greatsword(which i'm currently using) is a bad choice. I know lance and bow but will be very rusty with bow if i have to use that.

The fight does suck dick tho. Not fun at all or maybe I just dont enjoy this game anymore.

From what i've read it's a decent fight ruined by the shitty way the nova works and the fact that only certain weapons are viable(unless you're elite Asian player) because they fucked the way elemental damage works on them.

Yep. Uninstalled. Thanks, Alatreon.
<{dayum}>

I'm really hesitant to take this quest. I haven't lost a solo hunt since Behemoth and i don't want my undefeated Iceborne streak to come to an end. I think i just need to swallow my pride and take a few L's before a triumphant victory.

I watched a streamer try to beat it for 8 hours yesterday. He was finally triumphant, using a blast greatsword and just eating the first cart from the supernova

I've heard one of the raw/blast strategies is to brute force the fight and try and finish it before the third or fourth(with felyne insurance) nova. I've been using greatsword for a while now and even started a new character with it to try and master it properly. I'm probably the lower end of intermediate in terms of player skill and elemental GS is said to be one of the worst options against Alatreon.

The only other weapons i'm any good with are bow and lance, which also does poor elemental damage and with iceborne fucking lance users in terms of chip damage i'd imagine i'd be a sitting duck against Alatreon. Bow i haven't used for ages but it relies heavily on elemental damage so that might be my only viable option.

I'd like to give it a go with greatsword but i'll need to put together a nice build. Might wait for Frostfang Barioth to get the 1 piece punishing draw set bonus.

Tried it for the first time, went in with a full Vaal Hazak armour set and Death Garon Lance.

It seems like with the last few monsters added, the creators have tried everything that they can to break guard, which is generally how I play.

Anyway, was dropped once, three others came in and we were all wiped out by the first ultimate attack (which actually makes it very hard to see).

I might try again later...

If you're going Lance I'd suggest ice. Dragon takes a long time to get the elemental topple needed to survive the super attack.

Against Alatreon the Kjarr weapons are now meta due to the high element and inherent critical element. Basically a kjarr weapon and full Safi set will do the trick. Though I've seen people drop the safi set for more defense and do just fine.

I'm currently back to grinding Kulve Taroth for elemental weapons. The upside to bitch ass rng is I can make decent zeny to cover the cost of upgrades.

I'm back to using lance as well as greatsword is enjoyable and satisfying but I just can't use it to an acceptable standard.

Dunno if we discussed this but you can meld kjarr weapons from old kuvle parts

I've got Kjarr ice and fire lances now and have the framework for my builds ready. Just need to fully upgrade both lances, safi armor and charms with materials from the guiding lands.

My biggest concern is sharpening so i considered mixing teo/safi and having teo awakening on safi lances instead. The elemental damage potential is pretty much halved by doing that so i read what some other people are doing and they're using those sharpening scales or dropping a smoke bomb and sharpening under cover. I don't have any of the scales but the smoke bomb idea is good and i can fit a sharp jewel into my build as well.

One other thing i'm pondering on is whether to go with blight immunity or take advantage of the phoenix damage buff.

There's a a load of event quests coming soon. Some sound brutal,
