I've found it much easier in solo than group hunt, especially an SOS. I have no idea where the hunt is at if I drop in on an SOS.

The ice charge blade from Kjarr. Does so much elemental damage and the axe mode made hitting the horns fairly easy.

I've always wanted to make the move to charge blade but learning the moveset and transitions is just so daunting. Even thinking of learning the timing of the Guard Point has me feeling very uh... "No thanks".

If you want to deco farm, I think the event quests The Wrath of Thunder Descends is still the best one for it.

I'm not sure if the one with Great Jagras is up on this Fest.

It is Honey Hunter. I'm still in the prep stage at the moment. I need various materials from Guiding Lands to fully augment the lances. Custom mods are going to be full element and regular augments will be health regen and affinity to get closer to 100%. Currently according to the build i'm at 85% affinity.

Ghost Of Tsushima is proving a distraction though, so it'll be a while before i'm ready.
 
Farmed all the event layered stuff. They buffed the shit out of Shara both HP and damage for the event quest. Also doesn't topple from a wallbang. I hate Furious Rajang so much. But got 3 rajang hearts in one quest so I aint even mad I guess.

To be fair, the last few times I tried, I got my arse kicked so badly that I nearly uninstalled in a rage lol. Fight didn't seem fair. Brought out a real primal anger that I had to contain in front of my partner.

It's one of the reasons why I was playing Payday 2 and GTA Online yesterday.
 
I haven’t played seriously in over a year. How tedious would it be to get back in?

Tedious? Depends if you like the game or not. Tons of shit has come out thats changed the meta a million times. However at least now you can farm the best stuff rather than farming everything in real time as the power creep increases.

I guess that’s what killed my enthusiasm for the game. I don’t mind farming for some rare parts but some of the drops felt ridiculous to try and get.
