Its easier now. They tell you what to break to get what drops. And if you're not obsessed with meta sets, the craftable stuff is still decent.

I was actually doing well my first try. Got the elemental checks, broke both horns, first judgement was a breeze. Second judgement I fluffed the timing with my healing items and after that I just got overwhelmed by the succession of attacks.

Is fighting him solo supposed to be doable for intermediate players?

Yes, just takes practice. I too have carted popping a healing item too late during Escaton.

After the first elemental check I just make it a personal rule to scoff down an astera jerky after health drops half way. And mash the square button when attempting to do so.

Just did a run with full Safi gear. Cleared with 1 health gadget revive, and 2 faints with safeguard. Easier to get the elemental checks but trying to find moments to sharpen gets me fucked up.

As established, it's a hard fight for anyone that's not speedrunner-level. I've beaten ala maybe three or four times with no faints (only one didn't need a health gadget revive). To quote Rob Schneider: "YOU CAN DO IT."

Edit: just cleared again w/ full Safi. Someone used a Gourmet Voucher and Felyne Insurance was on the menu. Feeling confident I went for another run. Still fainted twice and had to eat for Safeguard (no registered faints and still had dogshit rewards). I did manage to clear before the third escaton.

I never made it to Alatreon in MH3U and I never bought MHGenerations.

Did any of you guys fight Alatreon in previous titles? How did those fights compare to this one?

Because the biggest gripe on MHW Alatreon seems to be with this damn DPS check to subsequent nova.
 
Best run so far today. Both horns broken, 3 judgements survived, then i went and fucked it up. It can't have been far off dying.

At least now i feel like i can actually beat this thing. I just need to stop being shit.
 
yeah average runs are 20ish minutes and 3 Escaton should be about 18 mins. You're close man.
 
Just beat Ala with a team again. I was the only two carts lol was healing and he was aggro to me both times and got hit before the heal registered. About 14 mins.

Two ice charge blades, a lbg and dual blades. We shredded him. Two elemental topples before each Escaton and we even blew the second horn break and beat his ass anyway.

Squishy monster with shitty mechanics. He got the insta slam attack they gave AT Nergigante and also spews unavoidable ice on the ground that trips you for several seconds. And he likes to use the aforementioned slam while you don't have your footing so it seems really cheap.

I just watched a video of someone fighting it and it does look quite annoying. I wonder if the polar mobility skill negates the trips?

Abandoned the first attempt to chuck Aquatic/Polar Mobility into my set. I can confirm that it doesn't work; I'd even say it doesn't help at all. Switched to Dual Blades for this asshole.

Sounds like a p4p pain in the ass.

I've not played since last thursday when i failed again vs Alatreon. Made it to the 4th judgement and couldn't hit the elemental dps check so carted and failed. Again i'm sure he was close to dying but i just can't squeeze out that last bit of damage needed in time.

Quite disheartening.
