DLH said they would only move for Mayweather vs Pacquiao. If this happens Canelo will want to move forward with the May 2nd date. Also, gay.

Boycott this fight. Yes they're fighting for the MW title but fans will be pissed.

That's a shame. If Pac/Mayweather is going to fall through, though, let's not pretend that Cotto/Mayweather 2 is a terrible fight.

It's not but no one cares for this. Floyd is always saying he gives the fans the fights we want right? Pac/PBF is drumming as loud as ever.

Everyone says that. As we've seen year after year, saying that doesn't mean Floyd or Manny are willing to give much in order to make the "fight the fans want." Pacquiao already gave Floyd an ultimatum and is surely looking for plan Bs, as well. The fight is viable from a competitive point of view, it will involve a belt in a weight class where Floyd hasn't yet fought (a lineal belt, although, the lineal belt doesn't necessarily make you the man at MW at the moment), and it will sell no matter how much noise people make complaining about it. All of those reasons play a significant role in why neither side has given up a whole lot to make the fight. They can afford not to give much and still make tons of money fighting other people. Should Pac, Mayweather, Showtime, HBO, TR, Mayweather Promotions, Haymon and GBP be criticized for not being able to make the fight happen? Yes, but that doesn't really make Cotto/Mayweather 2 a travesty in and of itself.

As you've always managed to be able to convey by the most convincing, sober, and balanced argumentation.

It does less than the 1.5 million buys it did the first time.

Maybe, maybe not. Regardless of what it's ceiling will be, it should definitely break 1 million and considering how the PPV format is slowly dying, those aren't bad numbers.

Given the time frame, 1 million may be best case scenario. If Floyd and Manny aren't fighting each other, their numbers will continue to dip. Especially going against a Canelo PPV.

So going to be a catch weight for the MW belt? They really shouldn't allow that type of shit

I'm a Cotto fan but would not support this fight on account of May.
Canelo should fight Kirkland and have Lemieux fight another top MW on the card (don't know if GGG is possible). Golden Boy could sell it as a final four type event with the winners squaring off.

I've quit on caring about a May vs Cotto rematch as soon as their first fight ended. If this bogus rematch happens both men will have clearly taken the safer option at the expense of the fans. Who can honestly say that they would prefer this rematch to Pacquiao vs Mayweather or Canelo vs Cotto?
