First Clip from IRON MAN 3 Shows Stark's Message to the Mandarin

Iron-Man-3-Stark-Press-Dragonlord.jpg

Marvel has released the first clip from Iron Man 3. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has always had an odd relationship with the press, whether he’s sleeping with them asking them to sit down on the ground, or telling them he’s Iron Man. This time around, he uses the press to deliver a direct threat to the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) with the promise of “good, old-fashioned revenge.” The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, and Guy Pearce. Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

Synopsis: Marvel’s Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Bradley Cooper Replaces Jude Law as Villain in JANE GOT A GUN

Bradley-Cooper-Seaside-Dragonlord.jpg

Although the production of Jane Got a Gun got off on the wrong foot, the Western is now getting a shot in the arm with Oscar-nominated star Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) stepping in. Cooper would replace Jude Law who exited the picture soon after director Lynne Ramsay surprised everyone by not showing up on the film’s first day of production. Gavin O’Connor (Warrior) soon stepped in to helm the picture instead. If there’s as much drama and intrigue on the screen as behind the scenes, this is going to be one helluva film. Jane Got a Gun also stars Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton.

Deadline reports that Cooper has joined Jane Got a Gun as the film’s antagonist, Bishop. Bishop’s gang is responsible for shooting up the estranged outlaw husband of a landowner (Portman). The gang then plans to rout her farm, because that husband has come home to heal. She turns to a former lover (Edgerton) for help.

Cooper is another huge get for producers Scott Steindorff, Portman, and Aleen Keshishian who were tasked with finding a fast replacement for Michael Fassbender (who was replaced by Edgerton), then Ramsay and then Law. In this case, it’s looking like the patches might prove stronger than the original parts.

Cooper is coming off a red-hot run that culminated with an Oscar nomination for David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook. He’s also got the closing installment of the Todd Phillips trilogy The Hangover Part III opening this May, will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Susanne Bier’s Serena later this fall and will reunite with both Lawrence and Russell for an untitled picture.

Snipes for the win. Bring the Blade franchise back to Blade II glory!

I hope that Snipes takes some more dramatic roles to help get his career back on track. He redeemed himself with Brooklyn's Finest before going to prison.

What do Dirty Harry, Conan the Barbarian and Apocalypse Now have in common? Filmmaker John Milius. The Oscar-nominated writer/director/producer is responsible for some of the most iconic and macho films of the late twentieth century, but is also known for his volatile persona off the set. Premiering at SXSW is debut directors

Godzilla-Sally-Hawkins-Dragonlord.jpg

Sally Hawkins (Happy Go Lucky) has nabbed the final lead role in Godzilla, the monster movie that Legendary and Warner Bros kicked off shooting last week in Vancouver. Hawkins will play a scientist alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Brian Cranston and Juliette Binoche. Gareth Edwards is directing Godzilla, which is slated for a 3D release on May 16, 2014. Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham wrote the script.

Hawkins recently starred in Constellations, the Nick Payne play that had a sold-out run at the UK’s Royal Court Theatre and then the West End. Her upcoming films include Almost Christmas with Paul Rudd and Paul Giamatti, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine which opens July 26.

Promotional Passports Reveal the First Look at SNOWPIERCER Cast

snowpiercer-chris-evans-passport-slice.jpg

Snowpiercer is bound to be one of the coolest sci-fi movies of the year. We've also barely seen anything of it. Today that changes a bit. The English-language debut of South Korean director Joon-ho Bong (The Host, Memories of Murder) is about a high tech train that was built to circle the planet after life on earth is killed due to a man-made ice age. On board are what remains of the human race, already being torn apart by a class system that's about to spark a revolution. They also happen to be played by one of the most impressive ensemble casts in recent memory: Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song and Ko Asung.

We have our first look at most of that incredible cast by way of some cool of promotional materials: their character's passport for the Snowpiercer. Most of the text on them is in Korean, but it is the first time we're seeing their character's names and what kind of class of passenger they are. Combine this with the concept art and score sample they've released and Snowpiercer is one of the most anticipated sci-fi film this year no one has heard about. First Images of Wagner Moura and Alice Braga from ELYSIUM

One of my most-anticipated films of the year is Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium. The film was originally slated to open in March, but Sony Pictures decided to put it in the summer movie season, so we’re going to have to wait a little longer. The film definitely looks like it will carry on the smart, blockbuster sci-fi Blomkamp created with District 9, and hopefully we’ll see a trailer soon. The film stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Wagner Moura, and William Fichtner. Elysium opens August 9th.

The movie is set in 2159, and two classes of people are divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth. Matt Damon plays a desperate man who must reach Elysium in order to find a cure that will save his life.

Director Justin Lin Won't Return for Universal's FAST & FURIOUS 7

Justin-Lin-0219-Dragonlord.jpg

Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise will be continuing without Justin Lin. The director informed studio execs late Wednesday that he will not be returning for the seventh installment of the long-running and profitable movie series. Lin has been the franchise’s director since the third installment, 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, helming four Fast movies. The latest, Fast & Furious 6, opens May 24.

Lin’s exit from the franchise is not due to any clashes with the studio, where Lin has a first-look deal, or star Vin Diesel, but rather timing, according to insiders. Universal, which has fewer tentpole franchises than other major studios, has put Fast 7 on an aggressively accelerated timetable and wants the film ready for release in summer 2014. Lin would have had to begin prepping for the movie while still working in postproduction on Fast 6. The filmmaker is said to have felt that the rush would not result in his best work.

One insider says that franchise exhaustion also was a factor. Lin has spent the better part of his directing career on the Fast series, after breaking out with 2002’s Better Luck Tomorrow, the Sundance movie revolving around Asian-American high schoolers. He also directed the 2006 boxing drama Annapolis.

The initial plan was for Lin to direct Fast & Furious 6 and 7 back-to-back, similar to the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean films, but that plan was scrapped early in the development process. There always has been two or three years between Fast movies, but Universal wants one for next summer. The studio now is searching for another director, with a decision expected as early as next week.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins Paul W.S. Anderson’s POMPEII

Adewale-Akinnuoye-Agbaje-rejoint-THOR-THE-DARK-WORLD.jpg

Lost star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined the cast of Paul W.S. Anderson's period disaster movie Pompeii, says a story at Variety. He joins Emily Browning, Kit Harington, Jared Harris and Kiefer Sutherland in the Summit Entertainment project.

Based on the world's most famous volcanic eruption, Pompeii centers on Milo (Harington), the slave of a shipping tyc00n who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter, Flavia (Browning). What Milo doesn't know is that she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner in Naples. Just when things can't get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts, prompting Milo to head back to Pompeii to rescue his love and his best friend, a gladiator (Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who's trapped in the city's coliseum.

Anderson and Jeremy Bolt are producing Pompeii through their Impact Pictures along with Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film. Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler wrote the script, which was revised by Julian Fellowes. Financed and produced by Constantin Film, the movie will be distributed by Lionsgate/Summit in North America.
