MMA wrestlers

I've been wanting to see him switch over since he finished college

edit- I know it's off topic but the guy who beat Lesnar for the nat'l title is actually the starting guard for the Patriots. Beat Lesnar in wrestling and football and his college didn't even have a team!

Stephen Neal, he wasa true badass, multiple time national champ and world champ.

A few updates...

Cain Velasquez broke his hand in that fight against Jeremiah Constant, and won't be back in action until July. I asked him who he's fighting, and he has no idea at this point.

Jesse Forbes beat another good wrestler at the recent Tuff-N-Uff event here in Vegas. Jesse Taylor was the guy, and he was actually a nationally ranked DIV 1 guy at 184 with Cal State Fullerton.

As most of you know already, Gerald Harris was all out robbed against Fabio Leopoldo in The IFL recently. I just don't see how you give points for submission attempts over slams, TDs, superior striking, etc... It just makes absolutely no freakin' sense to me at all. He'll be back though, as he has worlds of talent ... he just needs a little time to put it all together and we (wrestlers) might just have another wrestling star in MMA.

Another guy that recently racked up another win is CB Dollaway. He dominated and decisioned a very tough, and undefeated, judo player down in RITC 94. I happen to know he's being looked at by ZUFFA ... so, I wouldn't be suprised if he's picked up by them very soon.

Kellan Fluckiger and Ryan Bader will be having fights soon, I'm just not sure where, or against whom at this point.

Chris Tuchscherer could be picked up by ZUFFA as a test for one of their other "wrestlers". I understand that they want to see how one of their guys does against another wrestler at this point (yeah, it's O'Brien, and he "obviously" has to get past Tom Murphy at UFC 72 first).

Mike Massenzio is getting some notice as well. I wouldn't be suprised to see his name pop up on a very near future WEC or UFC card, as he's been very impressive as of late (plus, he was set to fight in a EC tourney where the winner was promised a shot in the UFC a few mths back, but a bad cut caused him to pull out of that and he lost that chance. Now he's gotta be real hungry for another shot at the big show and I don't think he'll have to wait too much longer either)

Chase Gormley (ex MSUN) scored a win over the hard hitting Jon Murphy in KOTC last weekend. It was said to have been a very good fight, and I am pretty sure it'll be on the KOTC ppv this weekend.

I hear Frankie Edgar will be back in action soon too, although I'm not sure who he'll be facing this time around.

I know there's some more info ... but I'm struggling to remember it at the moment..lol I'll toss it up when I remember.

Erm, Didnt Don Frye wrestle? Didnt he get in because he was friends with Coleman.. Or am i mixing that up with Severn/Coleman?

Frye wrestled at Arizona State when Severn was a coach, and he transferred to Oklahoma State and wrestled with Couture.

Hey guys ...

Watch for Tom Lawlor, currently fighting out of ATT in FL, to make some noise for wrestlers in the coming mths.

He was a 3x All American at 235 in the NCWA.

i cant believe he is shorter than me at 240 pounds, that guy is a beast with all that muscle i thought i was big at 5'11 195 of muscle, actually isn't wandy 5'11 like 210 ppunds of muscle

didnt know there were so many knowledgeable wretslers on this site based on the crap about wrestling i see all the time. u guys gotta defend it!

What we need to worry about isn't shit talking from little keyboard warriors who couldn't hold their giant heads up without a head rest, but having to worry about weather our spots will be promised to a woman instead of ourselves. There has to be equally as many spots open for women as men in wrestling now, and I've seen many friends go to wrestle elswhere because of it, and lack of scholarships and funding. We gotta keep wrestling alive guys.

crazy how everyone on that list fights at a much higher weight in mma, particularly lindland. but koscheck fights at the same.

Brock Lesnar? What an effin joke. He fought a no name. He should go back to role playing in WWE.

Here is a list of as many accomplished wrestlers in MMA that I could think of with their placings in college. I know I left a bunch of guys off. Remind me and I will add them. These are only the americans with top level accomplishments. Not state champs, college placers. Olympic medalists
