MMA standup is underrated

Honestly, people cry about boxing and years ago it was all (mainly fueled by Rogan) K1 striking and how much better it is than "rudimentary" MMA striking. Yet time and time again we've seen great strikers flatlined by MMA guys. Remember Saki Vs Roundtree? Roundtree started training in his mid twenties and was obese and Saki was a "GOAT" kickboxer. Overeem flatlined Hari in 08. Fucking Lobov beat Paulie.

More recently Vitor Belfort beat Evander Holyfield with ease, and Holyfield has wins over most of the 90s boxing legends.

Holyfield is an old man and Vitors win means nothing.

Floyd would have no reason to carry anyone. Why isn’t Floyd carrying these cans in Japan? You think Floyd would purposely look like shit against a guy who’s not a boxer lol. You think Floyd let Conor knock his head back and almost knock him on his ass to carry him?

Floyd Sr said before the fight Floyd was taking it seriously and was aware of Conors power early in the fight. Once Floyd seen Conor embarrass Paulie in sparring he took him very serious.

It hurts my head when people don't realize that defending the possibility of a TD increases the susceptibility of getting KO.

The title of this thread should be "the threat of being taken down leads to strikers getting knocked out."

I can’t believe you seriously used Holyfield in this example.

Go watch a high level boxing match. Then watch an mma fight. If you can’t tell the difference, I question why you’re even watching. Because you’re not seeing much.

Do you not consider Holyfield a top name in boxing? One of the all time great-cruiser heavyweights who beat Tyson, Bowe, Lewis etc.

No, I don’t consider AARP Holyfield a top name in boxing.

But I do consider you to be a dumb fuck. Please don’t quote me again, dumb fuck.

And boxers need to get in the cage and beat one of the top guys to have any claim at actually beating an MMA guy sir.
Bro, boxers aren't trying to go into other sports other than to further their individual careers. None of them are trying to make a point when it comes to the sport as a whole that they can take an MMA or kickboxer. It is the MMA guys that go into boxing and beat a medium-tier boxer that isn't even in the title discussion such as Chavez son or a 120 year old Holyfield and then say MMA>boxing as if that makes any sense.

I agree that fighting Chavez Jr who's a bum, or Holyfield makes no difference.
There's still people that act like boxing is superior as a whole...and its not.

The better man that night wins that night. There is no science to it. Put two in shape fighters in a ring/cage, tell them to hit each other, and see what happens. One will lose, and one will win.

Floyd was hurt twice and was scared to trade with Conor until he knew Conor was gassed. That’s struggling to me
That's stupid Conor landed one great uppercut that didn't even rock hm. Facts are Floyd won 9/10 to stop Conor on an EASY night for him coming from retirement. Floyd isn't a ko artist he IS a defensive specialist. Anyone who had a brain knew floyd was always going to gas and stop Conor for the win late.
