MMA has pushed me away recently

Still my favorite sport. It’s just slowing down because so many legends have retired. Gotta give time for new legends to come up.

The prelims have been weak as fuck the last couple months.
Top fighters don't wanna fight, man. It's what it all boils down too. They're all looking to Crack the top 10 and wait. Everyone wants the money fight.

It is a huge fucking problem right now

Also the Paul bros have brought a shit ton of drama into the UFC's fighter pay
I don't think its as much as a problem people are making it, I just think seasoned fans are getting stale on the product but collectively the product is going to heights it hasn't been before.

we have 4 new champions and its only June. Dustin knocked out Conor to start off 2021 where no one picked him to do it. Now we're getting a trilogy. It's all about Perspective. I miss Khabib being champion. I miss Conor being super active when he was a hungry FW, but if I can put my bias aside, this is probaly the best year for the UFC competition wise than it has been since last year. Last year, everyone retained titles. There weren't a lot of big upsets.

There definitely needs to be more of a focus on characters like their used to. But it seems like most people try and it doesn't come off right.

Also, make a minor league system. Being in a main event doesn't mean as much anymore when it's being held at the apex center.

Develop talent like van want and northcutt type prospects in the "minors" so you can hype that shit.

Have stacked ass cards in the actual ufc with notable names so you can advertise the hell out of them too.

2016 was the UFC peak. From that on they have steadily decreased.

I miss being in 2009, or 2002 (Pride) -- it was favorite part of my life.

Last few months have kind of been trash...

Frauds becoming champions,
Broke fighters catching cases over money,
Canceled fights,
Boring fights,
Bad cards,
Uninspiring efforts,

I'm a little burnt out dawg

Anyone with Me?
I hadn’t missed a fight night in like 2 years and I’ve missed the last couple. Sad, but I didn’t even think of it.

i think it's too much having cards every weekend from ufc. i quit watching other promotion because i only have so much time. plus having fights every week, there is less lead up and promoting imo. fights/cards are just as good as ever

I sort of agree....

well, other than possibly the best main card ever just 2 months ago: Weidman leg snap, Rose head kick, Shevchenko domination, Usman death blow

But yeah other than that a lot of snooze cards.
Yeah I think it's just a weak month to be honest . The adesanya Vettori ppv was meh and there's been a lot of fighters dropping out of fights. That night was magic though something really was in the air .

There was a time I loved combat sports. K1, Pride, UFC, Super League, etc.

Now it seems no one will compete with UFC. The overall scene just sucks. UFC has a monopoly and kinda just ruined it for me.

The bland uniforms, the shit pay, USADA, fighter treatment, the amount of fights I don't care about etc, etc. I just kinda fell out of love with the sport.

I think we're running into an over-saturation issue. Don't get me wrong, I still love MMA/UFC. I try to watch every card every weekend, but there are so many cards that we end up lacking real tantalizing matchups. The best matchup on most of these weekend, ESPN+ cards are usually the main events and a few of those have turned out to be pretty uninspiring, too. The PPV's are still solid cards on paper. I'm excited for the next few PPV's coming up, but yeah, I go through those ebbs and flows, too. I was more excited for the Gervonta Davis-Mario Barrios fight this past weekend than I was for Gane-Volkov. I still watched both, but yeah. Ironically, it seems like the issue is too many fights hahaha. It used to be that we went too long between fights, but the time off between undeniably builds interest.

It's become too much like the ball sports. Bland, boring and stagnant. But at least the ball sports can afford to pay their players a wage reflecting their status as professional athletes.

Yeah. It seems like the fights I actually look forward to are like 2-3 every four months or so. Dana is becoming even more petty, bully-ish, and mean spirited. More drama about whether the great fights will actually happen than imagining how they will go down. Divas galore at the top. Pay low for mid/low fighters. Even top fighters underpaid so young great athletes aren't taking up the sport. I still watch/enjoy a few events a years but I really particularly miss the Pride cards where the whole card was loaded with great charismatic talent and everybody was ready to throw down every 3-4 months.

I used to religiously consume as much MMA as I could; From countdowns to press-conferences and early-prelims to never missing any fighter interview, would watch the real weigh-ins and the ceremonial weigh-ins and even training footage, pretty much everything and quite enjoyed it. Now I am reduced to barely caring about the main event or being more excited about celebrity boxing matches or bareknuckle fights. MMA or I should say, the UFC in particular has lost my interest. The best days for me were back when Pride and the UFC were battling for MMA hegemony, one thing that the UFC, especially Dana White fails to understand, is that competition is a good thing, makes you strive for better things and put on better cards and improve your product, but the UFC with their world-dominance-monopolistic-unified-rules-cage mentality has actually made the sport much worse and generic.
Imagine PFL, Bellator, ONE, Rizin, and ACA existing, and thinking the UFC has world dominance.

The talent distribution in MMA has never been more fragmented between promotions.

I've been pretty indifferent towards it for years now.... I switched to watching Submission Only Jiu-Jitsu and MMA from smaller promotions. If you have FightPass check out EBI, Combat JiuJitsu, Quintet, Polaris... ect.... helps fill the boredom while the UFC runs the sport into the ground.

2019 was the peak UFC imo, it’s only been downhill since that, although 2020 was alright, but 2021 2nd half looks to be quite boring to say the least

Just watch Alaska Fighting Championship and you'll rekindle your love.. I guarantee it.
