UWFI in Japan was probably the closest thing to a throwback wrestling company that hasn't existed in the United States since the 1940's. Joke about Takada all you want, but I'm sure there aren't many pro fighters that would want to be forced to take shoot kicks from him back in those days.
It wouldn't surprise me if the new ownership group slowly added more entertainment elements to the presentation of the UFC over time. They come from a different industry and I'm sure as they learn the fight business lines could blur a bit more. They have 4 billion plus dollars to squeeze out of this stale company. It wouldn't surprise me if there is some plan to appeal to a wider audience. In order to do that, changes have to be made.
