MMA Could Never Survive Without Elements Of Pro Wrestling

UWFI in Japan was probably the closest thing to a throwback wrestling company that hasn't existed in the United States since the 1940's. Joke about Takada all you want, but I'm sure there aren't many pro fighters that would want to be forced to take shoot kicks from him back in those days.

It wouldn't surprise me if the new ownership group slowly added more entertainment elements to the presentation of the UFC over time. They come from a different industry and I'm sure as they learn the fight business lines could blur a bit more. They have 4 billion plus dollars to squeeze out of this stale company. It wouldn't surprise me if there is some plan to appeal to a wider audience. In order to do that, changes have to be made.

There is no way to justify giving every fighter the same salary. It's unfair to the fighters who bring in most of the revenue to pay them the same as if they only brought in 5% as much money. you're advocating destroying incentive.

Again you are taking a greedy stance.

You don't want a sport, you want a show that will generate more money. You want casual fans, that watch it for the drama, not the fights.

The incentive is winning. The winner takes more money, the champion the most.

I'm not sure this is true when applied to fighters. I highly doubt they fight solely for the money

Of course I want casual fans; they make up the majority of the audience. There is no promoter that doesn't want casual fans. Yes I want a show that will generate more money because more money attracts better quality athletes. The fighters deserve to be paid based on their value to the company. Any promoter who is going to pay his fighters by any other standard is looking to go bankrupt. Affliction tried paying their fighters more than they were worth and went out of business.

Why else does anybody go to work?

Training in martial arts is often something people do as children. I think a lot of them do it to compete, test themselves and because they like it. I'm sure they want to make as much money as they can but if they were all paid an equal, handsome amount as the poster that started this train of thought laid out, I can't imagine it would mean the fighters wouldn't want to fight.

I would agree that it would kill their incentive to do press and stuff and might thereby lose the ufc money as a whole though.

Who would want to fight good fighters if everyone gets equal pay? You don't need big money fights.

Yes, I agree you don't need big money fights, and this may hurt the ufc financially. I said that in my last post. But if fighters are all getting paid the same high salary as was originally laid out I think a lot of them would have the same mentality khabib has. He fights to prove he's the best. Money is not an issue because it is provided for him. I think most fighters want to do this. So that's why I think they would fight other good fighters.

This isn't meant to be me arguing for communism either btw. I'm just not sure the standard argument - that equalizing pay for everyone removes their incentive to work hard - is applicable to fighters in particular.

It's more like boxing and other combat sports then wrestling

The HW division, which is the pinnacle of any combat sport, is in decay so your theory fails in practice.
