Its clear as day that the catcher was blocking the base line well before he had the ball. He knows what the rules are, and so does his manager. Its their job to flirt with those types of rules, but they shouldn't throw a hissy fit when the call doesn't go their way.

The outfielder had already released the ball at this point, and the catcher was out of the baseline.
The catcher adjusted to catch an off throw, which is allowed. The umpire ruled the catcher couldn't have fielded the ball without blocking the pathway of the runner, which is legal.
