MLB MLB 2025 Season Thread: When half your roster needs a translator

The specific odds of Shohei Ohtani hitting three home runs and striking out 10 batters in a single game are not publicly available, but are considered extremely low due to the rarity of such an exceptional two-way performance. While his career averages provide a baseline, there is no historical precedent for this combination, making the odds statistically improbable for any player.

Ohtani's translator right now

What happened ed last night was like those myths and stories you hear about Ruth, Cobb, etc and go awwwwwww that never really happened like that but its a fun story. This ww saw happen. I still dont believe it . That was Ruth, Cob , mythical creature stuff.
Ohtani and Roy Hobbs... That's it.

I’ve been saying the NL is garbage outside of the Phillies for a while now. The brewers clean up hitter is William Contreras ffs. He’d probably bat 8th or 9th on the dodgers.

The mariners are solid though, I’d expect them to score more runs than teams starting cans like the Caleb Durbin, Jake Bauer’s and Andrew Vaughn. Dodgers should still win the series.
I do think the Mariners are a more solid team than the Jays. Dodgers-Mariners would be a good series. The Jays going into Seattle and smacking them around for two games surprised me, especially Kirby's start.

Maybe - who else even Ruth never did that. I disnt watch as not a baseball fan but watching highlights this morning im atill in disbelief . 10 k's a dominant pitching performance, 3-3 3 hrs (1 hrs out of ball park totally ) and he batted in all runs scored by team.

If you were told that would you be able to believe it without seeing it?

Imagine paying what dodgers paid for Ohtani and knowing you got a bargin.

Blue jays have a better offense but I’m not sold on their pitching. It feels like all of their starters are prone to just randomly get lit up.

His Rookie Card 1/1 is now valued over $1 Million

And he was really struggling offensively. Don't quote me, but I think I heard he changed up his batting practice in some way and Ohtani is religious about rituals.

He started taking BP on the field this week. A lot of players will only do BP in the cage to be able to focus only on the swing with no outside visuals. Not sure if that was the difference but something sure flipped the switch.

Thanks for explaining. He wasn't seeing the ball right. I hope that carries over to the next series, but you never know. It kills me that Ohtani gets behind because he looks for that first pitch, but then I see him kill a 1-2 pitch.

First homer was a 3-2 pitch. Second a 3-1. Third a 1-2. He was more patient.
