MLB MLB 2025 Season Thread: When half your roster needs a translator

I hope the owners don’t force a salary cap, it feels like a cop out for some of these owners who don’t want to spend money. Punishing the Dodgers for wanting to win is such a cowardly move.
Never going to happen. The high spending teams aren’t the problem. It’s the shit tier teams who refuse to spend.

Only way there could be a cap is if it went up every few years and there was a salary floor. Otherwise the players association would never accept it.

Also my cangels are almost .500 again. Time for them to get swept.

Is it possible for shit tier team to slap together a solid team via smart drafting and minor league development? The Angels fast tracked Neto and Schanuel and they're holding their own, I think, especially Neto.

Mets probably regret getting rid of PCA.

Mets love to deal great prospects at the trade deadline for a player that sucks. Like dealing Scoot Kazmir for that can Victor Zambrano. Sometimes in the case of pitchers I think just bring them up early rather than trade for a guy who is trash.

MLB.tv app has a 25 min interview w/HL of milestones of Barry Bonds.

6 degrees of Rich Hill

Sacramento Athletics do that too as well as trade away great players, (Matt Olsen, Mark Chapman, Marcus Semien, etc come to mind)
for money or future trades. Horrible ownership, Fisher the heir to the Gap franchise, personal wealth estimated at $3 billion doesn't give a shit about the team.

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if the 2025 Dodgers got quickly eliminated if they got to post-season. Now it's like hitting and pitching both suck in unison.

The problem is expansion has diluted the league too much. Same with the other three majors sports.

Even if you forced teams to spend more... you'd be giving shit bums $20 mill a year contracts just to hit the floor. There isn't enough talent to go around. Besides, the big name players aren't going to want to go to small market teams typically.

Maybe the solution is getting rid of about ten teams.

5 Games in a row for Ohtani for 37, passes Judge and 2 behind Raleigh now

not bad for a rehabbing pitcher!

I love when the commentator says about a player coming up to bat that he
has 'boatloads of talent' and then he strikes out, two swinging, the last one watching.
<suzylol>

Also the Braves getting shut out by 86 year old 0-8 4.99 ERA Verlander.
Verlander looked under serious pressure there, waited for the carotid to burst. It's time IMO.
I mean, he's got this to play with at home, doesn't he?

hate him.

If I were manager and my relief pitcher couldn't throw strikes, walked to load the bases with no outs, he wouldn't be on my team anymore. If you can't throw the fancy movement stuff, can't you just throw fastballs with location and speed change? They kept showing the yanked reliever's face repeatedly during the mess.
