It's a hard problem to solve because even if you put in checks and balances that would require mental health background checks to get guns, that all requires the mental health issues to be documented to work.

Yeah, but not typically when they used shooting as a method. They usually try to get away in that case. I’ve never heard of an Islamist active shooter turning the gun in themselves.

They might go out in a shoot out but usually they’ll try to bolt in a shooting, vehicle, or knife attack.

Maybe there is some fanatic loophole with suicide bombings that make it “not suicide” and they get to their paradise.

There are controls to prevent mentally ill people from getting guns. And that slippery slope has created some dangerous tools.

However, since TRANS was classified as a mental illness until VERY recently this might be an avenue to explore.

Making a rule that trans people can't get guns is stupid. How many of mass shootings have been done by trans people? And when I say mass shootings, I mean these type of shootings where soft targets are chosen like schools and public places. The right want to latch onto the trans part because they enjoy hating on that group of people.

We all know if they try to implement a law that required a psychiatric evaluation to get certain/all guns that the right and 2A crowd would collectively lose their minds. I am a gun owner and shoot more often than most. I personally would be fine if I had to get some sort of advanced license to own my firearms. One that would require some sort of psychiatric evaluation and deeper background check. Part of that I have already done since I own NFA items.
