It sounded more like the shooter was getting influenced by Islam as a backlash to the Israel Palestine conflict. The shooter expressed hatred specifically for Israel and India, two countries that are in long term conflicts with Muslim adversaries, and had "mashallah" on a weapon.

I have actually wondered about that and thought it's inevitable that a number of young white American liberals would start converting to Islam as a result of this, because young people tend to want to latch on to identities, and tend to see everything as black and white good vs evil. Right wingers are latching on to Christianity more but for liberals that isn't an option, and leaves Islam.

I've seen some media claim Westman also expressed anti Muslim sentiment but all I can see so far that they're using as evidence for that, is that they wrote down the name of the New Zealand mosque shooter as part of its list of mass shooters.

He just politicized his terrorsit attack. He could have blamed anyone or anything, it would have been the same, making a mass shooting in the US do not harm India or Israel at all or support Islam in any way.

There is no united islamic leadership, and all muslims countries are divided and controlled by western entities. In fact, supporting Islam is a myth, Islam do not exist, and is not a person, it is a strategy used by politics in arab countries, who are mostly masons and others, to legitimate their power and pretend to be saint. Religion being a good thing or a bad thing is another debate, but all religions are instrumentalized by the elite in power to push their agendas.

The New Zeland mosque shooter was no different.

In the end of the day, the terror, the fear, the insecurity, of mass shooters, terrorsits, world war 3, you stop watching the TV, and it stop to exist.

Fear only exists in the minds, risk is the only reality, and the risk is low.

Politics always ruined religion. If you are the ruler of a country, and want to go to war, and if your people were muslim, you would bullshit them, talking to them about going to heaven or saving the ummaa. If they were christian, you would have said that the crusade is holy. War promoted by religions do not promote religions but control of traderoutes, natural resources, and extension of territory, it's all politics, not about faith.

Yeah there’s really no point in thinking about. The right will always close ranks and refuse to do anything that might help the problem. Instead they’ll happily latch on to this new red herring of trans as if the problem isn’t extremely pervasive without the like 5 that have done in it in all history.

Whoa, you went deep brutha! My post wasn't meant to be alarmist or anything, just saying that's one of the major current influences in the zeitgeist for young American kids. Yeah you could swap it out for trenchcoat Mafia or right wing militia shit etc.

After 9/11 there was a lot of anti-Islam sentiment, the current "flavor of the month" is that Israel is in control and responsible for everything bad that America has been involved with.

I only have a few and carried one on my hip for a very long time, but not anymore because I left that part of my life five years ago now. I did my time protecting people using that gun and have had to point it at a lot of dangerous people. The one thing I have learned in all my experience was that bad people will get guns no matter what laws we pass or steps we take. There are solutions that will help lower our gun violence rate while protecting the rights of legal and law abiding citizens with guns.

The first and most needed reforms are in the legal field. I teach criminology and one of the things that we know from studies is that approximately 23% of criminals commit 61% of the crime including over 60% of all rapes, shootings, and murders! They often have long criminal histories and continue to roam our streets and commit more crimes. I can tell you that locking them up and incapacitating their ability to commit crimes against other citizens works, but in the most violent areas, big cities, progressive policies and prosecutors and judges continue to allow them To roam free. We know that most violence is driven by gangs, felons, and now juvenile gang members. When we do catch these violent fucks, they need to be locked away for a very long time so they are unable to shoot, kill, and rob others. There are district attorneys like larry krasner of Philly that refuses to prosecute felons caught with firearms because the majority of those arrested are minorities who are responsible for most of the violence within that city-and the race statistics aren’t even close when it comes to victims and offenders. It’s the same in Chicago, Oakland, dc, and any other murder hub of America. It’s gangs that are responsible for the majority of shootings. Find and prosecute the gang members like we did in the 90s because of the violence during that decade. But since then, we have backed off on prosecutions and sentencing due to reforms from progressive cities and their leaders. Race should NEVER. Be factored into sentencing of offenders, but it has been the past 20 years. It has been the opposite as well with the crack epidemic where minorities were sentenced more harshly than other races. But going 180 degrees in the opposite direction is not the answer either. JUST FUCKING PROSECUTE THE OFFENDERS HARSHLY AND KEEP THEM OFF OF THE STREETS.

The shooter didn't shoot anyone while living as a male, murders only started after he acted like a female. After that his Mental health was Drastically changed into being homicidal. What chemicals were introduced, making his violent thoughts worse while trying to help?
What Meds were prescribed by what doctor? Any background links at all to the other trans shooters?

I hear where you're coming from but it's normal for humans who have fucked up to err the other way to an extreme--at least the ones with any empathy for those who have been wronged.

Here's hoping things settle close to the reasonable middle with time.

Neither side trusts the other. From the far right, every suggestion or movie is one to take their guns away. Hell, some of the politicians on the left have said just that. beta orourke said I will take your guns. gavin gruesome isn’t must better.

It's not even mistrust ....its that the other side doesn't know what they are talking about in the slightest so it's impossible to even have the conversation. It's also that they never show up with a compromise or want to make a deal they just show up with demands.

Like I don't think my views are extreme and I'd be willing to dicker with the other side if I was a politician in hopes that I could make the second ammendment more awesome for everyone.

No bans on type of weapon or magazine , no getting rid of conceal carry and no fucking lists of who owns what. Otherwise id be willing to try some shit out . But I would want something in return for anything given. Like I would trade having to pass a mental health test in exchange for abolishing the nfa (obvious a lot of details would have to get hammered out )for example. Want a waiting period...cool I want national conceal and carry ... and so on.
