Milton Approaches, I have a mobile home

It might sound callous but if governments decided to charge people the cost of any rescue, should they need it, i think that would be fair.

Many people, i think stay, because they know it is others who pay for their rescue costs so they are ok with that gamble. If they had to pay, many more might leave.
LOL You actually think people stay because they know they don't have to pay for rescue? No offense, but that's bizarre. They stay because they hear the warnings 2-3 per year their entire lives, but only rarely do they actually experience these storms hitting where they live. And most of the time, it's not as bad as the warnings. So to them it's a huge disruption to their lives for nothing, but it's a gamble every time.

I think they make the 'gamble' you speak of, in part, because they know others and not them will bear the cost of their rescue, should it need to be done.

i do think people think differently about situations if they know the cost they might pay for a rescue could be near a hundred grand and could devistate them and so, as you say, they gamble and stay thinking the 'huge disruption' is not worth it. Flip that script and have them consider the huge cost and suddenly 'that huge disruption' of simply driving inland a few hours', looks small in comparison.

Next do a fat tax!

I wonder how this logic operates in your vision of American healthcare…

I see nothing wrong with asking people to pay a higher insurance rate, if they willfully engage in activity that leads to more risk to an insurance pool. You want to skydive, fine but your insurance may cost more or you might get disqualified. But in a free country you need to allow it. Freer markets should also be allowed to price it otherwise you shift the cost to others. If a person is obese and the Dr says it is not due to health issues and is only due to poor habits then them paying a healthcare premium, would be more than fair, imo.

I understand that on this forum people are more for shifting the costs to others to pay and not making the one accepting the risk, pay it as most are socialist here and do not realize it.

This literally feels like I am waiting to fight a dude.
Like I already planned to fight a guy at the end of school tomorrow and I’m waiting for the moment, that’s almost exactly how this feels.

Wish me luck, Godspeed ladies and gentleman, fellow sherdoggers. Pray for my people and my animals and my home. I might be over reacting I don’t know I guess we’ll find out.
Much love sir, I hope Milton hits like a bitch brother.

Good luck. Hopefully it has floats and wings to cover all bases.

But srs bro, stay safe.

I guess you don't know about them. It's one of those hurricane proof "dome houses." It's literally designed to withstand cat 5 hurricanes. Wouldn't go anywhere. Every house in Florida should basically be designed like that, instead of the endless cycle of house gets destroyed -> rebuild, house gets destroyed -> rebuild, etc.

<mma4>

I let my chickens/ducks/turkeys/emus loose
I play keyboard in a church band, that church has offered us a place to come if need be
I will not leave until I’m obviously in clear danger
My house is built upon a foundation, I’m at least two hours inland in Polk County Bartow area
I’m in a giant cattle pasture my house is at least 4 feet off the ground the winds have downgraded to 80/90 mph and a Cat 3 when it hits
I know the Birds will find higher ground
But yeah I’m still here still have power

My house DOES feature Hurricane anchors
Is built upon a foundation for a normal house that got burnt down
We have two decks wrapped around the house

Essentially if my house is destroyed so will everything else be
I’m not sure attempting to evacuate and getting stuck in the highway during the storm is a better way to go

Idk I just want to play Space Marine 2 on my day off but this is severely altering my plans

The house was built in 98 that means it’s taken at least 25 years of hurricanes although this is allegedly the strongest in a century and “Is nearing the mathematical limit of what the Earth over this ocean water is capable of producing” as the weatherman started to cry

I hope you stay safe bro.

Why not go to the church now? Your property will either survive on it's own or it won't. You being there won't make a difference. If the Church is safer, you should go there before it's too late.
