Military Roll Call! Veterans, GTFIH!

There's no swimming during OCS and you only have to do the minimum qualification at TBS (just like in boot camp).
Do you already have a bachelor's degree?
A shame that the USMC doesn't allow Warrant Officers to be pilots.

Knew more than a few 1833 reservists that went Army to fly birds.

Yup.

To think, we could have kept them organic (as these were S/NCOs), if we changed how things were done.

So, these guys all became Warrant Officers in the Army?

Yes.

At the tiime (late 90's), the Army was hurting for helo pilots, and were accepting two-year degrees for current/prior service. Most of our 1833s (Amtracker) were students, or had degrees.

Command was cool about if for the first few. Then, they put the kibosh on any further ISTs.

The DOD went with Sig over Glock to replace the M9 because it was cheaper and now an airman is dead.

<{hughesimpress}>

It wasn't just price of the units. Palms got greased.

During the trials, one of the requirement for being "modular", was an FCU that was chassis based. I know a SOF armorer that mentions how service wide, nobody uses the small and large frames.

Beretta was dead in the water. Demands for the trials were reduced. Glock knew their worth. Winchester is in bed with SIG.

Raiders went back to their 19's, Recon is probably confused...

Funny how the Glock 19 is good enough for SOF but apparently not good enough for conventional forces.
Raiders had $3000 1911A1s and still chose the good ole Glock 19.
S&W's M&P line would've been good too and they actually make a model with a thumb safety. But you're right about palms being greased by Sig (same thing going on right now with the Army's NGSW program).

I thought the Weaver was fun as all get out!

But then again, I had just turned 18 around two weeks prior. :)

The M45A1 was retired when the M18 entered service. Our brothers I knew in Det One loved their M45 MEUSOCs.

I think S&W knew the score, so they dropped out the trials early.

From what I heard, those deployed in combat zones are being told not to holster in condition 1.

I think a good part of these UDs are junk trigger return springs (combined with imported MIM parts), which places the trigger in a position that overrides their 4 point safety system (5 with the M18's manual safety, which was horribly just a trigger safety, considering the design).

The other is the spec of trigger take up that defeats their safety system.

Yeah. 5 shot. Post locked down for a couple hours but they caught the guy.

Fuckin 3rd ID, man. I'm prayin for the victims.

Update: Quornelius Radford, Army Sergeant with a POW, tackled and subdued by another soldier.

You know we did some pretty dumb shit during the peak GWOT years but I can say I never had to stand duty in front of the PX on a Saturday afternoon to enforce wear of proper civilian attire. Raking sand, sweeping rain while it's raining, painting rocks. But never that.

3 more weeks until terminal leave :) of course admin is taking its sweet time getting me my paperwork
Congratulations Dude , I decided to do one more Deployment before calling it a Day , I'm a glutton for Punishment.

Oh man those last few weeks before terminal had me clenching my asshole tight. That shit can be yoinked even if you already picked up your 214 until the day you EAS.
