Whilst I agree with everything you've said, the sport of boxing appears so non-legit regardless of Jake's involvement that I think his actions are neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things.. The sport needs saving and he is but a drop in that ocean.
So true, and that's why MMA, until proven otherwise, is the superior product - at least 95% of the time.
Boxing has always been a sport full of padded records that produce very few legit dynamos.
However, Jake takes that to an entirely different level. He thrives on his his own non-sport fanbase, while he grabbed a part of the MMA fanbase, lightly sucked the teet of the Fury fanbase, then went full tilt on boxings old heads that hoped for a small dose of Tyson's glory days.
His marketing prowess is damn near second to none; his career in combat sports has quickly become a fucking joke.
Netflix will probably never touch him again, and he will never sell another PPV. Ironically, and most likely, unless it's against Canello. Even then it would be a hard fight to sell.
While I agree that he's only a drop in the ocean, he just created the largest ripple the sport has ever seen.
He would've had a more positive impact on the sport by simply promoting Taylor vs Serrano 2, with Barrios vs Ramos as the co-main than further damaging the sport by following those fights with the travesty that was Paul vs Tyson.
Couple that with the extreme issues that Netflix encountered by not being prepared to cater to up to half a billion streams after roughly 11 months of preparation, and...
I mean, where do we go from here?
