If you don't believe race is a matter or motivator in random crimes thats up to you, I've experienced it and know alot of people who have in the latin community on the ground. I don't care what the consensus opinion of Stitches is in the hood. I said it flies now and his popularity is proof that it does. All of his videos get millions of views. Street cred doesn't mean anything. Everyone knows Rick Ross is full of shit and he still made a ton of money with the fantasy life he wrote about in his lyrics. The vast majority of rappers are just playing a character anyway, whether anyone in the hood likes them or not.

I remember a video came out a while back of Nate Diaz saying it in the corner and no one cared, even though he's a half white and half Mexican dude. It's not the late 80s anymore when people were just starting to listen to NWA. Go to any densely populated city and you're going to find people that aren't black saying it. Doesn't make them racist. It's a regular occurrence now.

I guess if you feel like that it must be so.. I would imagine that people potentially offended by these statements would decide "what fly's". If you think its cool for everyone to use the word take your ass to the nearest "hood" and test that theory.

Yes, that flies now, at least far more than it did in the past. That's my point. I didn't say every white person has free reign to say it, but it happens quite a bit. There was a time when it would have been unimaginable for a dude like Stitches to get millions of views on that type of song or for Nate Diaz to casually drop the word on TV without anyone caring. It's not anymore, thus why there is no backlash against Perry for these posts beyond this thread. I would bet anything he has said it plenty of times in front of black people too. He wasn't raised in some white suburban enclave, dude's a former criminal with drug issues who split his youth between Michigan and Florida.

If you're a white person in the hood, you're going to have problems at some point regardless. And yeah, if you just casually drop it around a group of black people you don't know, there's a good chance it could turn out badly. Context definitely matters, I'm not saying it doesn't. I just mean that it's not quite what it used to be. A lot of white people get away with it now. There's not as much segregation, both literally and culturally. It certainly still exists, but not like it did even in the 80s. Like I said, people aren't getting shocked by NWA songs anymore.

Also, I'm familiar with hood culture. I'm not saying things I, "believe" and have not witnessed firsthand. I'm a former addict, I spent a lot of time in absolute shitholes with drug dealers and criminals. Once you're accepted in that world and not just a bystander, things are different.
