If he wants to really prove that he is the p4p #1 fighter and/or ever build a following with fans, he needs to get to 135 ASAP. Otherwise he'll never get there, 125 is too obscure a division without the talent to prove how good he is against

125 will never be able to get a mainstream following

He's going for that record of the longest reigning champion. After that, he might give it a shot on Cruz - or whoever the champion might be.

P.S. For those of you who are saying he loses 10 out of 10 times at 135, his bantamweight record is 14-2.

I assume such people are referring to his chances at capturing the BW belt from Cruz, and not just his chances of beating anyone at random. Then again.... People love to discuss things they know nothing about, so who's to say?

Another thread where people on a forum are saying a fighter "needs" to change his career.

he's so damned short, though. His quickness and mobility will carry him pretty far against some guys, I'm sure, but damn if he won't be fighting uphill all the time. Remember how big Cruz looked against him?

unrelated:
just noticed the rare TJO loss on FF:

have you seen this? have you heard about this?

Does anyone know how much Demetrius made for his fight against Cejudo?

No he doesn't. UFC needs to bring in some new talent and promote 125.

135 is absolutely stacked right now too. The top 3 guys of Cruz, Dill and Faber need to sort things out. Then we have Sterling and Almeida as two of the most exciting and promising prospects right now out of any division and I know there's a couple other guys I'm forgetting that have made some waves in the division. Plus I still think Cruz needs to fight Barao. Barao has moved up in weight but I wouldn't be surprised if he wins his next fight, he drops back down to 135.

Doesn't make sense for MM to leap frog that whole division and tie up Cruz with a title shot. 135 needs to play out naturally and if MM were to move up, the best thing would for him to stay there and find his place in the rankings.

I think the idea of having a 125 tuf and the winner fight DJ is a good idea that brings in new blood and brings attention to the division. I don't think 125 will ever be a hugely popular division, but UFC needs to solidify it with hardcore fans. There's too many boneheads on here that shit on the division and the champ and that's not right for a place like this and UFC has failed in that area of promotion.

So that applies to everybody, right ?

No he doesn't but thanks for stopping by.

If anything MM could fight at 115 and drop down a weight class if they had another one.

Why ? Hasnt he earned the right to try to beat Anderson´s record ?
Demetrious is small at 125 yet people say he needs to go to 135 to prove he is one of the GOAT´s.Why ? Dont you have eyes nor experience to see what he is capable of ?
Yet nobody talks about Jones that is a huge LHW , doesnt have the best BJJ in the game , nor the best kickboxing, much less the best boxing , yet people call him the undisputed GOAT ... go figure

If he fights at 135lbs would it affect his "title defenses" record? Jones was cut at 8, even if he beats DC, but MM could go back to 125 and defend his belt, dude doesnt seem to have any issues making weight, has cardio for days, he could be a two weight class champ if he beats Cruz (im on Cruz winning).
