Might we be overestimating how great Holly is?

I hate to be the one to make this thread because what Holly did to Rousey brought so much joy to my life and many others. She's also everything you want to see in a champion, humble, fights with ferocity, hard working, etc. I know she's a legend in the making in WMMA because she has been a champion in boxing\kickboxing\ and now MMA but is it possible we're overestimating how dominant she can be in?

I am only saying this because she fought a Rousey that looked out of shape and distracted and while she DISMANTLED her...there was a moment where Rousey landed 1 punch and Holly's knees buckled. The punch wasn't even that strong.

I am not denying Holly Holm is great at all, I know I'll get flamed for this post but I'm just curious because I would not be STUNNED if she loses within the next 2-3 fights and everyone realizes she has some weaknesses we overlooked.

Yes. Ronda ran through most of the competition because she's a better athlete and has excellent judo the competition wasn't ready for. Holly has a style all of them are familiar with. She's also an excellent athlete, and talented striker, so she definitely has the ability to beat everyone, but I don't think she'll last as long as champ and definitely don't see the 30 second finishes being all that common.

As for Ronda looking off, I think that was more to do with Holly cracking her in the first few seconds of the fight.

She looked barely average in the UFC before the Ronda fight.

Holly's best attribute is that she is an amazing human being.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this fight will be a boring UD win for Holm. I like both of them, but feel Holly Holm is being favored too heavily.

I think she'll outclass pretty much everyone in the division in the standup and seems to have great defense against grappling. The main downside is her age and mileage.

She's 34, and has already had 50 fights across 3 combat sports. She might have a lot of wear and tear, she might start slowing down soon. She might decide to quit in order to have some babies.

I think Holly will take a UD. If Tate can't get the early TD, she'll go into panic 'swing for the fences' mode, and it will end badly against Holm.

Holm won't destroy her competition in seconds, like Ronda, but I she'll find a way to stay on top.

Ronda did not look off, she just looked like she had no idea what to do when her normal bull rush technique didn't work. Holly doesn't even have a wrestling background and she was still able to execute a greco roman take down on Ronda because she has been training far longer, harder, and with better teams than Tate has ever had in her life. I am not even convinced that Tate is a better wrestler or grappler than Holly.

A lot of people seem to overestimate her abilities yes. To Holm's defense, Ronda didn't look off at all. She used the exact same gameplan she always does, but Holm had planned for her well. Holm has the best set of tools to beat Ronda and if they fight 100 times, I expect Holm to win at least 90 of them. Beating Ronda the way she did does not mean she'll do the same to the rest of the division, her first two UFC fights proved that. It will depend on the type of fighter she's facing - if it's someone who has very sloppy striking, no ability to set up takedowns and bullrushes Holm (i.e. like Ronda), Holm will win (and many in WMMA have very poor striking and grappling). Holm could remain unbeaten throughout her UFC career because she's skilled, clever and a true athlete but she will be in many fights where she has to give everything she's got to earn a decision. I think Miesha will be her toughest test yet and I would not be surprised if she beats Holm. Nunes I believe can also pose as a dangerous threat and if they end up fighting at some point, I'm expecting a knockout though not sure whose lights will go out.

I've been saying this ever since the loss. Yes Holly is good but the Ronda that she fought has not 100%. She was distracted. She had a million things going on in her life. Remember they moved the fight up because Ruthless injured his thumb. Ronda had her Buster Douglas moment.

Say what your want but I fully expect to see the Holly of her first could UFC fights and not Holly the world beater on Saturday.

And I don't believe for a second that Greg Jackson told Holly to hold back in her fights.

Holly is dope, miesha is a workhorse with a lot of heart. Gonna be a good title fight!

Holly had one good fight in the UFC. She stunk it up in every other one. I think right now she's overrated. She needs to finish Tate convincingly and then Nunes and anybody else that comes along. Right now she might be the GOAT or she might be Buster Douglas or Matt Serra.

I agree that Holly needs to do more to justify the hype and praise that she is currently enjoying. In order to do that, she has to beat Tate. Then she has to beat the winner of Nunes vs Shevchenko, because Rousey will most probably delay the rematch. And finally, Holly has to crown her career with another victory over Ronda. After that, she can freely retire, and will be remembered as an WMMA legend. I don't think that the Cyborg fight will ever happen. Dana would never allow that.

Now, even if Holly would achieve all of this, there will still be people who will continue to doubt her, and will still keep bringing up that split decision with Pennington. Holly hurt a lot of fan feelings on that November's eve of 2015. She also made a lot of respected "experts", journalists, you tube analysts and other MMA personalities look like charlatans. To say that plenty of people would, out of pure malice, love to see Holly lose to Tate and prove that UFC 193 was a fluke, would be an understatement.

That being said, I've never seen Tate getting this much praise for her skills, before Ronda lost. But now all of a sudden she has become a competent striker, a KO artist, Raquel Pennington 2.0 and God knows what else. It's really transparent what is going on behind all that...

Now, I like Miesha. She's one of the mentally strongest fighters in the UFC, and a role model for every sportsman. She has the winners mentality, and I believe that if she had picked another sport, or some other profession in which she was more talented in, she would have been the best. And no, I'm not thinking about her starting a porn star career, you fucks. :D

Just based off what I seen in her latest open workout I've got a funny Holly is actually really dangerous off her back. Some of those transitions were really clean. I mean, shes got the same three coaches as Jon Jones. I don't think they would allow her to have any glaring weaknesses like that. I really do believe shes got shit we haven't seen yet.

Even if we overestimate holly its not like meisha has anything for her.

That's sort of our thing. They're the GOAT when they win, they're tomato cans when they lose. Rules of the jungle.
