Health midlife crisis

I think a midlife crisis happens to people who've never truly lived, or loved, or followed their dreams. They suddenly realize that shit, I'm starting to get old, and I haven't really done anything I can be proud of yet. That's when the crisis kicks in.

If you've lived your life well and generally happy with where you are in your journey, you'll be fine. Stay healthy, keep your brain working, follow the path where it takes you.
Agree 100%.

I grew up very competitive and still am. It'll probably be the death of me.

"I don't let the old man in."

So since it counts i, I feel I'm at a fork in the road, I've had 25+ years of fun and hard living. Some guys had kids young and they are just getting their freedoms back and I'm chucking mine away. I realize I'm going to lose my physical abilities and I always wanted kids so now it's the time
. Its your first kid? I honestly think its great. You lived your life to the fullest before becoming a parent. Thats a good thing in my book.

People live longer today. And stay "young" in body and mind then ever before.

So why not explore your own life before getting kids.

I waited to the later part of the 30s on purpose

When is it kicking in? Should i expect it spoon? Or is it a myth?

I turn 47 in january.

What is your thought on the midlife crisis people talk about?

Fun fact this song was inspired by Madonna, who was in her 30's at the time. Mike Patton felt that she was trying too hard to keep up with the younger stars.

It also samples the beginning of Car Thief by the Beastie Boys (at the 1:57 mark).

#2. Both after 40. My wife is 10 years younger so it makes sense for her. I also stopped drinking so I can be a capable father. I'm not worried about doing it and I think that comes with age. I was terrified of screwing up a kid when I was younger.
I also married later, my life would of been a disaster if I married any of the girls I used to date.
So I'd lend some credence to a midlife change but I didn't consider it a crisis for me

Happy belated birthday. I just turned 45 myself. thankfully, I haven't felt compelled to buy a sports car or go pursue a younger bride/woman.

As someone who's been carrying a mental illness for 27 years and ckd from the medications for the last ten years, my life expectancy is roughly 56 and I'm 44 so I considered any midlife crisis shit done by my mid 30s. I've been getting tattooed like a motherfucker in my 40s because I love it and who gives a shit. Some would call that midlife crisis. I call it carpe diem bitch we've all got one foot in the grave already.

Keep your head up my man

I had an existential crisis in my mid/late 30s. I guess that counts.

If not, it's ten years later and I'm sitting at home with a torn pec that I got in the gym a week after vowing to compete in a grappling competition in 2026. That probably counts.

The "sports car, new wardrobe, try to bang young women" stereotype is rare and sticks out because of that. The "discover new hobby and go absolute ham on it" variety is more likely. Whether that's gardening, woodworking, baseball cards, hiking, or motorcycles, that kind of thing is up to you.

If I've driven Porsches and listened to techno for 25+ years do I have to find new mid-life crisis tropes?
