Microsoft acquires Zenimax Entertainment for $7.5 billion

That's crazy, hadn't thought of that! I'd love to see InXile remake Fallout 2, with a world map like Wasteland 3.

Todd Howard.

Tim Cain.

Brian Fargo.

The trifecta..

Game Pass will be looked at in the the same light. Game services are the future...for better or worse.

Sometimes I do wonder though. How many gamers play games so much they want to spend a monthly cost to a game library? It’s not like tv where everyone watches tv and hates commercials. Most gamers I know just play 1 or 2 games a year if that. I’m not sure they are willing to spend money monthly to get more access to more games when all they want is the next COD or fortnite update.

I guess will find out Xbox is going to put it to the test.

This is what people don't realize. Microsoft has a HUMONGOID war chest. They do tend to shoot smartly with it.
They sat back smirked then said guess what mofos.

So a new studio to kill?
How sad, Bethesda has published some good games.
Let's hope Doom and Fallout aren't reduced to "service" games dedicated solely to the casual audience.

Another dead studio, a big day for Microsoft, a sad day for humanity.
Yeah, I hope Microsoft follows Pete Hines' philosophy with Todd Howard's team and just literally let them do whatever the hell they want, and give them as much time as they need. It would suck if this turned into an EA Bioware situation. They seem a lot more developer-friendly now, but 343 is a shit show from what I've read.

That’s fucking megaton, if they choose to keep those exclusive that will 100 percent put a big fuck off dent in Sony’s numbers.

Don't act like Playstation hasn't done it. They made EA's MLB the show a Playstation exclusive and there hasn't been a AAA baseball title on the Xbox or PC since the Xbox One has been out.
Lmao, imagine comparing The Show to Bethesda.

They want to be the new Netflix, right? They want you subbed, forgetting about the sub, and paying every month regardless of if you're playing anything or not. The more people buy in, no more used games, eventually always online in Microsoft's ecosystem, no discs, just all digital through Microsoft, however they want to give it to you.

Just what they wanted in 2013.

I'd rather just spend the extra to get the openness and superiority of PC gaming.

Does anyone who wasn’t already going to buy an Xbox look at a move like this as a good thing for the industry?

All the usual suspects are excited but I’m genuinely trying to find some objectivism about why one of the largest companies in the world buying out enormous studios in order to keep them exclusive is a good thing for gamers.

If they continue to try and bully the competition by absorbing even more major publishers, which they can do, where does that put the industry?

It comes down to cost and convenience. Think about it. Games are rumored to be going up to $70-$80 a pop this gen. That's $150-$160 just for two games. OR, you can pay $15 a month for a GP subscription that you can cancel and re-up at any time, and have access to hundreds of games. It would take about five months of all that access to match the cost of one stinkin' game. It's a no-brainer.

Now of course, it does rob the consumer of ownership, but that's another conversation. On it's face, Game Pass gives you the best bang for your buck by quite a bit.

That is just one example. Sony has horded a bunch of good games last gen and all the Sony fanboys did was gloat. Regardless of what happens with Bethesda's content it's not like there isn't going to be anything to play on the PS5. This was also true with the Xbox last gen even though Sony had a handful of better exclusives.

Most gamers play more than one or two games a year and $15 a month or $180 a year is mot that much to pay when games are going to $70 a pop next gen. Not to mention the deluxe edition of games that go for $100.

All gamers have access to an Xbox if they so choose. You do too. It's totally fine for the industry. It just might not be great for Sony, which, let's face it, is your only real concern. Quit feigning concern for the industry at large. You're just mad because it's power move by Microsoft and not Sony. You would not give one flying fuck about "the industry", if roles were reversed. You'd be laughing your ass off, while posting "Craig" memes.

Yea I just don’t know. It’s not about just bang for your buck. If these people only buy two games and get to keep them that’s better than a bunch of games they don’t want or play and have to constantly pay for. A bunch of people I know only play COD.

very few gamers I know hop from game to game after they beat them. Game pass would be worthless to them. That’s why I wonder if it can work. I don’t know enough about people’s play habits.
