Dude smashed Barboza melon in and made it look easy, beat the hell outta Tony Ferguson, had 3 close rounds with Nate Diaz and had he fought smarter could very well have won that one. Dude is almost always in entertaining fights his comeback in the Danny Castillo is amazing as well. I'd pick him to style on the likes of Pettis, and give RDA a tough fight.

Michael Johnson is the definite dark horse of the division, and with all the talk about Conor lately I just wanted to take some time to appreciate the most underrated LW and maybe most underrated fighter on the roster who would also smash Conor, Michael the Menace Johnson!

He smashed barboza? I guess. He threw a lot and landed a lot, but i wouldn't say that was "smashing" him. Ferguson has also dramatically improved since that fight, and why is it that you apparently can only lose to nate diaz if you fight stupid? Round 1 was close vs nate, rounds 2 and 3 weren't. He had his streak, iced Tibau, beat the tar out of Lauzon. His improvements are impressive, but he's not a top LW.

He is very good and underrated for sure, but Ferguson got hurt in the fight. Also dont see what he could have done differently against Nate TBH.

Still he is a dark horse for sure.

He'd have more hype if he didn't shit the bed against Dariush. Sure he won in most people's eyes, but he really should have dominated and he didnt.

Didn't ferguson break his arm early in that fight?

He got screwed in Dariush decision.

Johnson would smash up McNumbNuts that's for sure.

He has a serious problem where he just goes brain dead during the fight

He holds back too much and is afraid to pull the trigger

Still a good fighter, top 10, but nothing special and will never fight for the title or come close to fighting for it.

Him vs Pettis would be a good match next, both seem to just stall lately

He got robbed in the Dariush fight, was a damn shame to see. Will be interesting to see if he can bounce back from the Nate fight and who his next opponent will be. I say either Pettis or Chiesa

Pettis would lose that imo. He needs to drop asap.

Yeah Johnson is very talented for sure, I was laughing my ass off when Before the fight Pettis said himself and Barboza are the best strikers at 155, hahaha. Johnson would use Pettis as a punching bag, he has seriously fast hands and very crisp. He has the fastest hands at LW.

Landed 20% of his strikes and still only landed 5 more than his opponent (who landed 40%), didn't know that was smashing.

He swung mostly at air but came forward is all

he could've not abandoned his leg kicks he was using to win the first round??

This really derailed him.

I didn't think Nate would be able to rattle him so easily. Didn't show an ability to make midfight adjustments. Instead of switching to headhunting I thought he'd mix it up with more body work esp. the body kick.

Division seems wide open still esp. Barboza beating Pettis. Hopefully he gets a lower top 15 guy next like the Green/Poirier loser or Dunham to get back on track.

Nate schooled him. Wasn't close enough to have went johnsons way either

I don't see him beating any of the top 5, but yeah he's a solid fighter in a tough weightclass, and yeah I'd pick him over Conor for sure.

He beat Barboza who is a top5 LW. So yeah he kind of is...

Nah, he's right where he belongs, nuetral. Poirier in the other hand is underrated, next fight should be against Pettis.

Top 10 in the UFC LW division is something special.

The rest of your post was pretty good.

that isn't how rankings work, but ok fair enough bro. Even if you want to play the game of "It's not rankings, it's matchups" - Do you truly and honestly believe that there are 4 or less fighters at LW that Barboza beats more often than they beat him? Johnson doesn't inherit Barboza's success since that fight just like Barboza doesn't inherit Johnson's losses since that fight.
