This.Got off his stream to hit the Sherdog. Think we all saw this one being foreshadowed. Glad this is happening. True step up for Paddy and we'll see if Chandler is burnt out or not.
I would actually favor Paddy, I think most people are afraid to make that call because he's been pushed so hard by UFC and given somewhat favorable matchups. Chandler was taken down by Olivera with ease. Paddy is pretty well rounded and huge for LW. I wouldn't be shocked if he did better than Olivera against Chandler.Chandler has been over ranked and shown absurd favor from the back office.
Paddy is reasonably deserving IMO because he's gone 6-0 and just had a breakout performance putting away Bobby Green in the first round. Green has fought everybody and is a really established gate-keeper, this fight makes a lot of sense IMO.
Personally I think its a pick-em and this is a good matchup for Chandler to shine.

Charles is a bad ass, but because of what he was when he was on his run as champ. Since losing to Islam in 2022, he's beat Dariush and Chandler. I personally think at age 35 with all his mileage he isn't the same as he used to be. Paddy is looking to prove he's not a hype push from UFC. Paddy does have some power though, wouldn't be shocked.Do Bronx has some world class striking and has put down ranked fighters over and over.
Paddy is still improving so we'll see where his trajectory goes - personally I think he'll become a top 10 fighter win or lose against Chandler. Striking like Charles though? Doubt it, that is elite of the elite.
Let's go further. Make all fights 5 rounds.
Lets back up - you should be fighting low level UFC talent when you make your debut from a smaller org. That is standard and sensible match making.
Jared Gordeon was 7-4 in the UFC when he fought Paddy, and the losses were against name brand talent like CDR and Charles Oliveira. Setting that aside, Paddy isn't a judge and if you have 6 UFC fights you should expect to win or lose a controversial decision. That is the nature of MMA.
So now he's 6-0 and has beaten multiple veterans with winning UFC records. There is absolutely zero reason in the world to say "he's not that good." He's clearly a UFC caliber fighter, and this is really difficult division to string together half a dozen wins.
Is he a top 10 or top 5 caliber fighter in his prime? We'll find out, but he's certainly deserving of a ranked opponent next.
C'mon man. He was 16-3 coming out of Cage Warriors. I'd argue his win against Julian Erosa over there was stronger than any of his wins in the UFC until he fought Green. There's sensible matchmaking and there's protecting a fighter to preserve a hype train.
Jared Gordon was 7-4 in the UFC when he fought Paddy. That decision shouldn't have been controversial. It should have been either a 29-28 or 30-27 for Gordon. There's a reason why the press scores on MMAdecisions were: 12 for Gordon 29-28, 11 for Gordon 30-27, and 1 for Pimblett 29-28.
I say "he's not that good" in relation to his division in the UFC, especially compared to the hype he's received, as in I wouldn't favor him against a single fighter in the top 15 in his division even though he's ranked 12 right now.
Like I said. If he beats Chandler, I'll give him credit, but I think the hype train comes to a screeching halt here.
Just don't do the Sherdog Classic if he wins and say it was because Chandler old/washed/chinless/etc
