Throwback Merab's cardio isn't the greatest ever.

Merab seems to embrace/enjoy/thrive in being tired more than those other fighters. He doesn't seem like he's having fun unless him and his opponent are exhausted. So it creates the illusion of having better cardio than those guys.

Great point.

He has now beat every guy in the weight class who is worth anything mostly with cardio. Clay guida might have better cardio but he isn't a better mma fighter.
Yeah I came here to post Guida. That dude had crazy energy but couldn't capitalize on it enough to get in the title picture.

Just one thing being overlooked in this thread and that is taking damage while expending cardio. If you're taking damage you're gonna get worn out a lot more.

Frankie Edgar to me was so impressive with his 5 round pace because he often took some serious damage which would normally wear even guys with great cardio out(Like Colby) but it still didn't stop him from coming. The Diaz brothers as well.

Merab is better at defending himself than he gets credit for.

.erab can spam take downs for 5 rds . I have her to see another able to do that ..... the others mentioned other than Colby aren't wrestlers. Merab actively applies pressure and just keeps going for grueling takedowns anyone else is getting g tired by 3rd round Merab isn't he just keeps going . Only way to tske his cardio is to crack him a few times . Will yske someone else like a Dillasnake with the wrestling to hang in there and power speed to crack him. Prime Cruz wpuld likely be able to keep away and decision him.

Merab is on some juice lol.

No, his cardio is unbelievable. He has such a high octane, chaotic, relentless style and then makes you fight his fight at his pace.

It's virtually impossible for anyone to keep up.

Knock him out or get drowned are the only options.

If you watch the Yan fight again I've never seen anything like it. It's absurd and tbh he makes the examples you posted look like Houston Alexander.

completley disagree

Never seen anyone w cardio like Merabs

The thing that also stands out is he just gets these 473 ML Red Bull spikes out of nowhere. It dont even make no mothafuckin sense. If you are tired when he gets those, you are through.

It's kind of hard to quantify when they all fight with different styles.
This. Every fighter mentioned so far is so different from the next you can't really compare. Especially when they're all fighting in different weight classes. Could Merab fight this way at 145 and still keep his opponents on the back pedal?
