Merab isn't the saviour here

If Merab tries to spam takedowns like he did last time he will get knocked out. That fight caught Yan and the MMA community off guard. We've never seen someone hit the spam button like that before. It was like a little brother spamming the down button in Mortal Kombat 2 and beating the older brother once.

Whether it is Sean or whatever high level fighter Merab competes with next, that spam shit won't work again. Granted, I was very impressed with his cardio.

I see a lot of cope right now and haters leaning on Merab as their only hope to beat O'Malley. I see a knee right up the middle and a KO.

Merab is smart though, he won't do the spam game against O'Malley. The truly elite strikers (Anderson, Izzy, O'Malley, Peirera, Leon etc....) freeze wrestlers and grapplers. Rightfully so.

I always love seeing strikers win belts.

O'Malley looked good and I have never been a hater. With that said I would have liked Goddard let him get the win clean. Not sure why the refs seem to like to stop BW title fights when a fighter is still moving and not out? Dom vs Henry and now this one. Was O'Malley most likely going to finish him? Yes. Have fighters who have been rocked like that survived and gone on to win? Yes. O'Malley was robbed of the clean KO win.

Sean should fight Corey next. Also, Merab looked better in his last fight than Chito did plus he fought a better opponent. Chito should get another win before he fights for the title.

Merab is not even in the same planet with O'malley in terms of striking IQ. He gets sniped. Merab would have to be diving for Suga's ankles from the other side of the cage because if he stands with Suga for 1 min he gets slept

Merab isnt just some cardio wrestler, he mixes in striking well with decent power, he goes up high and low, clinches , wrestles and strikes off the break.

I'm not an O'Malley hater or fan, he's a good striker and his gimmick is whatever, but Merab is absolutely a terrible matchup for him.

If O'Malley is made a favorite by the odds makers I"d bet the house on Merab .

I'll say it cause I've argued similar things before; I think this is more a case of styles make fights and Aljo being overated.

Everyone seemingly forgot the huge caveats when it came to Aljo's championship run and he's always been a very limited fighter.

I thought he'd [Aljo] win but it's really not that surprising he got caught against O'Malley. So like you said, this dosnt make O'Malley some invincible world beater ha.
