Media Merab Dvalishwili: "My Best Option is Sean O' Malley"

Merab is making his status as champion irrelevant by turning into a professional ducker. You are the champion and you gotta act like the best in the world and take on the best

that has nothing to do with what i was referring to. you said nobody had to win 10 times to get a title shot and i pointed out that there indeed was and his name is Max Holloway. your opinion of the quality of either Merab's or Max's opponents is a moot point.

besides, beating Sean O'Malley is less difficult than beating Jose Aldo twice. how do you even know Umar is a much tougher fight than Ortega or Aldo? you're comparing a fight that hasn't happened to 2 that already have.
Makhachev also went on a 10 fight win streak before fighting a streaking Charles Oliviera for the belt.

yup, and Tony Ferguson was on a 9 fight win streak when they finally gave him an interim title shot, which he was then stripped of a few months later even though he continued his win streak to 12 before finally going on his current losing streak.

and dude said "there has NEVER been anyone in MMA" <36> that's 3 guys in just 1 organization lmao

tell him to fight umar or else just cut him and do omalley vs umar for the belt

I said in another thread that Merab is going to sit on that belt as long as possible hoping to coheadline a big card to make the ppv points.
Where is the poster that said "no no merab is a warrior he would never do that"

Says he'll fight anyone, but his "best option" is Sean o'malley

Is he ducking or smart for choosing the easiest match/money?

I think O'Malley beats Merab in the rematch but it will probably be close. Umar beats Merab and it probably wouldn't be competitive. I don't see Merab being able to win a round against Umar.

No champ should be allowed to pick who they fight. They fight top contender, as obligated by championship standards. This bs has to stop, it's doing tremendous harm to the ufc and ruining careers of deserving top contenders.
Umar vs Song is a very bad look for the sport. Everybody knows Umar deserves the shot and everybody knows Merab prefers not to have that fight.

Merab wants anything but Umar for his 1st title defense, not a good look

Yep, and the saddest case is Tony, he did it in a shark tank of a division.

Merab definitely put in the work, no doubt, but some of that was on him publicly and strongly saying that he would not fight the Champ of the division who was his friend.

If people are saying that Ankalaev saying once or twice he would like to fight in Abu Dhabi cost him his TS to Khalil, then publicly and vociferously saying you will NEVER fight your friend, the Champ of your division, certainly had to put Merab out of contention in the eyes of the UFC.

I'm actually shocked that Dana hasn't made the rematch already.

"Umar has a fight already, we'll see what happens, Sean made the most sense'

Smart and he has fought a bunch of ranked guys to get this opportunity as a champ, so I think he deserves it.

Umar hasn't done enough with one ranked win, IMO. Though I defintely wouldn't hate it if they made the Umar fight anyway. That's a sick fight.

He is choosing the easier fight. We already saw how that one will/should go.

fairly sure the point was more about having to fight umar and your point fails because Max did NOT.

and it wasn't about omalley and aldo. I assure you, I thought a lot less of O'malley than you ever have before during after and than anyone I've seen on sherdog and it isn't even remotely close.

this is about defending. and umar is obviously a lot better than ortega and beating aldo again.

like i said, if you really think otherwise, see what the odds come out on for umar vs merab, and compare it to the rematch odds for aldo vs max.

Merab says he's in no rush to fight so Umar should rush a fight in so if he wins he would be a clear number one contender, instead of this unnecessary rematch with Sean.

He's already scheduled to fight Song Yadong, Dec 14th.

After that he'll probably have a long hiatus because of Ramadan, during which the Merab O'Malley rematch likely will be
